What You’ll Be Doing
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting faults at the board level on laptops, desktops, and small form-factor PCs
- Replacing SMD components (think tiny—tweezers and steady hands required)
- Performing intricate soldering work, including reflowing BGA chips and replacing damaged traces
- Flashing, repairing, or reprogramming BIOS/UFEI chips when firmware issues strike
- Reading and interpreting circuit schematics to guide your repairs (no guesswork here)
- Communicating findings and repair steps with teammates and, when needed, clearly explaining issues to customers
- Keeping your bench organized, managing small parts inventory, and making repair notes that actually make sense to others
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- At least 3 years’ hands-on experience with motherboard-level repairs on laptops and desktops
- Firm grasp of soldering techniques—both surface mount and through-hole (you know the difference, and you’ve got the steadiness to prove it)
- Experience diagnosing and repairing power circuit faults (from shorted FETs to blown caps)
- Comfortable handling BIOS/UEFI firmware—including reprogramming and replacement
- Ability to read and work from electronic schematics
- Detail-oriented, patient, and genuinely curious about fixing what others might give up on
Nice-to-Haves:
- Prior experience repairing tablets or Apple devices
- Familiarity with ultrasonic cleaning stations
- Knowledge of modern data recovery techniques on dead motherboards
