About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Ever wondered what it takes to keep a city moving? In a place as fast-paced as Dubai, where every minute counts and parcels need to reach their destination yesterday, the role of an Operations Manager is the heartbeat of it all. We’re looking for a hands-on, experienced Operations Manager to lead our team of motorcycle couriers right here in International City. This isn't a desk-bound, spreadsheet-only role — it's about being out there, coordinating the flow, and making sure our sponsored riders are safe, efficient, and motivated. If you thrive on solving puzzles in real-time and have a knack for logistics, this could be your next great move.

About the Company

We're a specialized logistics provider that does things a little differently. Instead of juggling a massive fleet of vans and trucks, we focus on what we do best: a dedicated team of motorcycle couriers, fully sponsored and equipped by us, ready to hit the roads of Dubai for delivery platforms and logistics partners. Think of us as the agile, quick-moving specialists in the supply chain — the ones who weave through traffic when every second counts.

Our culture is built on mutual respect and a shared understanding that our riders are the stars of the show. We back that up with real support, from bike maintenance to fair scheduling. The vibe here is practical and down-to-earth; we don't do unnecessary bureaucracy. We're a team that celebrates a job well done, learns from the occasional hiccup, and is always looking for smarter ways to operate. If you're someone who values loyalty and isn't afraid to get your hands a little dirty (figuratively, of course), you'll fit right in.

What You’ll Be Doing (Responsibilities)

This role is a mix of strategy and street-level smarts. You won't just be delegating from an office; you'll be the central point that keeps everything in sync. Here’s a glimpse into your day-to-day:

  • Leading the Crew: You’ll be the direct manager for our team of couriers, handling everything from daily briefing and route assignments to performance reviews and one-on-one coaching sessions. It’s about building a crew that feels supported, not just supervised.
  • Keeping the Wheels Turning: You’ll monitor delivery times, track orders in real-time, and jump in to troubleshoot when a rider hits a roadblock — literally or logistically. Your goal is to ensure our service level agreements are not just met, but exceeded.
  • Coordinating with Partners: You’ll be the main point of contact for our partner delivery platforms and logistics companies. This means clear communication, proactive updates, and building relationships that make the whole operation run smoother.
  • Scheduling & Dispatch: You’ll create and manage daily rider schedules, ensuring we have the right number of people on the road during peak hours. It’s a bit like being an air traffic controller, but for bikes.
  • Safety First, Always: You’ll champion a safety-first culture, conducting regular checks on our sponsored motorcycles and ensuring all riders adhere to road safety protocols. A safe rider is a productive rider, after all.
  • Crunching the Numbers: You’ll track key performance indicators (KPIs) like delivery times, fuel efficiency, and rider productivity, then turn that data into actionable insights to improve our operations.

What You’ll Bring (Qualifications)

We’re looking for a leader who’s been there and done that — someone who understands the unique rhythm of the delivery world. Here’s what we consider essential:

Must-Haves:

  • Proven Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in operations management, ideally within logistics, last-mile delivery, or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Team Leadership Skills: You've successfully managed and motivated a team of drivers or couriers before. You know how to handle different personalities and get the best out of people.
  • Tech-Savvy: You’re comfortable using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and standard office tools (think Excel and Google Sheets). You can learn new apps quickly.
  • On-the-Ground Presence: You’re willing to be out and about in International City and across Dubai, not just chained to a desk.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: You stay calm under pressure and can make quick, smart decisions when a delivery goes sideways.
  • Excellent Communication: You can communicate clearly and confidently with your team, partners, and upper management in English. Knowing Hindi, Urdu, or Arabic is a definite plus.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience working directly with delivery platforms (Talabat, Deliveroo, Careem, etc.).
  • A valid UAE driving license (motorcycle license is a huge bonus).
  • A background in fleet management or vehicle maintenance.

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you. Sometimes the best leaders come from unexpected paths.

Why You’ll Love Working Here (Benefits & Perks)

Let’s be honest — a job is more than just a paycheck. We believe in taking care of our people, because they’re the ones who make our company what it is.

  • Competitive Salary: We offer a solid, market-aligned salary package that reflects your experience and the importance of this role.
  • Real Impact: You won't be a small cog in a giant machine. Your decisions will directly affect our daily success, and you'll see the results of your work almost immediately.
  • Supportive Environment: We foster a culture where you can voice your ideas. If you have a better way to do something, we want to hear it.
  • Growth Potential: As we expand, there will be opportunities for you to grow with us, taking on more responsibility and shaping the future of our operations.
  • The Dubai Advantage: You’ll be working in one of the most dynamic cities in the world, with all the energy and opportunities that come with it.

At the end of the day, we're looking for someone to join our team, not just fill a role. If you’re ready to lead a dedicated crew and help us deliver excellence on two wheels, we’d love to chat.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Walk me through how you’d handle a situation where three deliveries are delayed simultaneously due to unexpected road closures in Dubai — what’s your immediate thought process and your first three actions?

  • Describe a time you had to turn around a struggling team of couriers or drivers. What was the root cause, and how did you get them back on track?

  • How comfortable are you with dispatch software and GPS tracking tools? Can you give an example of a time you used data or tech to solve a real-time logistics problem?

  • Tell me about a moment when you had to deliver tough feedback to a rider who was underperforming. How did you approach it, and what was the outcome?

  • What’s your philosophy on balancing speed with safety when managing a fleet of motorcycle couriers? How do you reinforce that mindset daily?

  • Imagine a partner platform suddenly changes their delivery requirements mid-shift. How would you communicate that to your riders and keep morale high while adapting?

  • Give me an example of a time you had to coordinate with external partners or clients to resolve an operational hiccup. What did you do to keep the relationship strong?

  • How do you go about building trust with a team that might see you as just another manager? What’s your approach to showing them you’re invested in their success?

  • If you noticed fuel efficiency or delivery times trending down over a couple of weeks, what steps would you take to diagnose the issue and correct it?

  • Describe a time you made a quick decision under pressure that didn’t go as planned. What did you learn from it, and how did you adjust your approach afterward?

  • What does a supportive work culture mean to you in a hands-on, fast-paced logistics environment? How would you contribute to that here?

  • How would you handle a conflict between two riders over route assignments or fairness in scheduling? Walk me through your resolution process.

  • What’s your experience with vehicle maintenance or fleet management? How would

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

Based on the senior-level nature of this role and the logistics sector in Dubai, you should expect a salary of at least 8,000 to 12,000 AED per month. Similar Operations Manager roles with 3-5 years of experience in last-mile delivery typically fall within this range, especially given the hands-on requirement and direct team management responsibilities. If you bring strong experience with major delivery platforms or a motorcycle license, you can reasonably aim for the higher end of that spectrum.
