About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Introduction
Are you someone who finds real satisfaction in helping kids unlock those “aha” moments during homework time? We’re on the lookout for a Teacher Assistant to guide and support home-based learning for a family on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. In a world where education is shifting more and more into the home, this role puts you right at the heart of a child’s daily discovery and growth. If you enjoy gently nudging young learners to find their confidence—and you know the difference a patient, positive presence can make—this could be a truly rewarding opportunity for you.
About the Family & Home Learning Environment
This isn’t your typical classroom assistant role. Here, you’ll become a trusted partner in a family’s journey to help their child thrive outside of the traditional school setting. The home is welcoming and well-organized, with a dedicated learning space filled with books, art supplies, and plenty of natural light (and, on occasion, maybe a curious family pet nearby). Parents are involved and supportive, believing in a learning environment where encouragement, gentle guidance, and laughter are all equally important. Respect, open communication, and celebrating small victories are part of daily life—Friday “progress check-ins” often end with a homemade treat.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Offer hands-on help with daily homework, ensuring understanding—not just completion—of assignments
- Guide reading practice, spark curiosity in writing activities, and reinforce basic math concepts in friendly ways
- Supervise the student during learning sessions to promote focus and confidence, without hovering
- Create a positive, encouraging study environment with plenty of patience and a few well-timed high-fives
- Collaborate with parents on learning plans and keep them informed about progress or challenges
- Introduce creative games or breaks that make learning feel less like a chore and more like an adventure
What You’ll Bring
- Experience working with children—whether as a tutor, classroom assistant, nanny, or camp counselor
- Strong communication skills and a knack for explaining things simply and cheerfully
- Patience, empathy, and an upbeat attitude (those tough homework days happen!)
- Ability to adapt—every child learns differently, and you’re ready for that
- A genuine interest in nurturing young minds and building self-esteem
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- One-on-one home-based setting means you get to form a real connection, not just teach a subject
- Competitive pay and flexible hours that respect your schedule
- Supportive, appreciative parents who value your input and suggestions
- Opportunity to be part of a family’s educational journey, making a direct and visible impact every day
- Occasional perks, like joining in for healthy snacks or creative craft sessions
You’ll find that this is more than just a job—it’s a meaningful way to help a child build confidence and curiosity that will last a lifetime. If you believe learning should feel both structured and spirited, this family would love to welcome you into their circle.
