About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Ever pictured yourself steering a busy workshop where every cabinet, kitchen, and custom wardrobe crafted has a story behind it? As our Carpentry Workshop Manager in Umm Al Quwain, you’ll take center stage in a workshop known for its meticulous approach to manufacturing and installing everything from bespoke kitchens to intricate wardrobes and special-purpose cabins. If you thrive where hands-on leadership meets creative problem-solving, this role was built for you — especially given the region’s growing demand for top-tier, tailor-made interiors.
About the Company
Nestled in Umm Al Quwain, our workshop operates more like a close-knit makers’ collective than a run-of-the-mill manufacturing floor. We pride ourselves on a collaborative spirit — with regular coffee-fuelled morning check-ins and spontaneous brainstorms over sawdust-smudged sketchbooks. Here, quality isn’t just a buzzword: it’s something we debate, celebrate, and relentlessly pursue, especially as we continue expanding our client roster and capabilities.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading, supervising, and inspiring a team of skilled carpenters, installers, and helpers on the workshop floor
- Overseeing daily workshop operations — balancing deadlines, resources, and the odd custom request that pushes our craft
- Coordinating the hand-off and collaboration between the production (fabrication) and installation teams to ensure seamless delivery
- Managing purchasing of materials, hardware, and consumables — keeping track of inventory so no project ever stalls
- Monitoring quality control at every step, providing feedback and hands-on troubleshooting during production challenges
- Reviewing job orders, translating client specs and design drawings into clear work assignments
- Communicating with the sales/design office to clarify specs, suggest improvements, and offer technical input
- Upholding safety standards and cultivating a culture of respect, performance, and pride in workmanship
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Proven experience managing a carpentry workshop or joinery, ideally in a supervisory or managerial capacity
- Deep knowledge of woodworking, fabrication, cabinetry, and installation processes
- Strong leadership skills — you know how to motivate teams and keep projects moving smoothly
- Solid multitasking abilities and a mind for organization, even when the floor gets hectic
- Experience with sourcing, purchasing, and keeping tabs on inventory
- Clear communication in English (Arabic fluency is a bonus)
Nice-to-Haves:
- Hands-on carpentry, joinery, or technical background
- Understanding of AutoCAD or reading shop drawings
- Familiarity with UAE market requirements or previous regional experience
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.
