About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Ever dreamed of being the person who turns someone's morning around with a perfectly pulled shot of espresso? If you've got a genuine passion for coffee and the skills to back it up, this could be your next great move. We're looking for a talented female barista to join a cozy, well-loved café in Sharjah — a spot where regulars become friends and every cup is made with care. This isn't just about making coffee; it's about creating moments, one brew at a time.

About the Company

Tucked into the lively Mweileh – Al Falah area, just behind City Centre Zahia and a stone's throw from Al Jada, our café has quickly become a neighborhood staple. We're the kind of place where the morning rush feels like a community gathering, and the afternoon lull is perfect for perfecting latte art or experimenting with a new roast. The vibe? Relaxed, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what we do. We're a small, tight-knit team that takes pride in serving specialty coffee done right — no shortcuts, no fuss, just quality in every cup.

What You’ll Be Doing (Responsibilities)

  • Crafting exceptional espresso-based drinks — from classic cappuccinos to flat whites that look as good as they taste.
  • Mastering various brewing methods — pour-over, Aeropress, French press, and whatever else our menu calls for.
  • Engaging with customers — taking orders, answering questions about our beans, and making everyone feel welcome.
  • Keeping the bar spotless and organized — because a clean workspace makes for better coffee and a happier team.
  • Restocking supplies and managing inventory — so we never run out of your favorite single-origin beans.
  • Collaborating with the team — whether it's testing a new drink recipe or covering a shift during the lunch rush.

What You’ll Bring (Qualifications)

Must-Haves:

  • You're female — as per our hiring requirements for this role.
  • Hands-on experience with specialty coffee — we're talking real café experience, not just home brewing.
  • Solid espresso skills — you know your grind size from your extraction time, and you can pull a consistent shot.
  • Knowledge of brewing methods — pour-over, cold brew, and everything in between.
  • A warm, approachable demeanor — because you'll be the face of our café.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with latte art (we love a good rosetta).
  • Familiarity with different coffee origins and flavor profiles.
  • Basic knowledge of café operations, like POS systems or opening/closing duties.

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you — passion and a willingness to learn go a long way in this industry.

Why You’ll Love Working Here (Benefits & Perks)

  • A supportive, tight-knit team that genuinely enjoys working together.
  • The chance to hone your craft — we encourage experimentation and skill-building, whether it's perfecting your tamp or trying a new brewing technique.
  • A prime location in a bustling area with plenty of foot traffic and regulars who appreciate good coffee.
  • Flexible scheduling — we understand life happens, and we try to accommodate where we can.
  • Employee coffee perks — yes, you'll get your fix on us during shifts.

At the end of the day, this is more than just a job. It's a place where your skills are valued, your personality shines, and your love for coffee is shared by everyone around you. If that sounds like your kind of spot, we'd love to meet you.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Walk me through your process for pulling a consistent espresso shot — from grind size to extraction time. What do you adjust if the shot runs too fast or too slow?
  • How do you approach dialing in a new batch of beans? What changes when you switch from a dark roast to a lighter, fruitier single origin?
  • Tell me about a time you had to make a drink you'd never made before — maybe a specialty menu item or a customer's unusual request. How did you handle it?
  • What's your go-to method for steaming milk to get that silky microfoam? How do you adapt your technique for oat milk versus whole milk?
  • If a customer asks you to recommend something based on their usual order — say, they always get a caramel latte — how do you guide them toward something new without pushing them out of their comfort zone?
  • Describe a busy morning rush where everything seems to go wrong — the machine's acting up, the line's out the door, and you're short on a key ingredient. Walk me through how you'd handle that.
  • Can you recall a time a regular customer was unhappy with their drink? What did you do to turn that experience around, and what did you learn from it?
  • We're a small team that relies on each other — share an example of a time you went out of your way to help a coworker, even when it wasn't strictly your job.
  • How do you stay energized and focused during those slower afternoon hours when the café quiets down and there's less to do? What's your approach to making good use of that time?
  • What does "working with care" mean to you in a café setting — beyond just following the recipe?
  • Our café has a relaxed, friendly vibe where regulars feel like friends. How do you strike that balance between being genuinely warm and personable while still keeping the line moving efficiently?
  • What's something you're currently trying to improve in your
