About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Introduction
Ever walked into a salon and noticed how the first smile you see can set the entire tone for your visit? That’s exactly the kind of energy we’re looking for. We’re on the hunt for a friendly, sharp, and experienced Cashier & Receptionist to join our busy salon team in Abu Dhabi. This isn’t just about ringing up sales — you’ll be the heartbeat of our front-of-house experience, the person who makes every client feel like they’re in exactly the right place. If you thrive in a fast-paced, glamorous environment and have a head for numbers, this could be a great fit.
About the Company
We’re a well-established salon in the heart of Abu Dhabi, known for our modern treatments and a loyal clientele who expect nothing less than five-star service. Our team is a tight-knit mix of creative stylists, therapists, and front-desk pros who genuinely enjoy what they do. There’s a real buzz here — especially on weekends — and we take pride in keeping things professional yet warm. Think of us as a place where your organisational skills are appreciated, your personality shines, and your contribution genuinely shapes how clients feel about their visit.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Greeting clients with a warm, professional welcome as soon as they walk through the door — first impressions matter, and you’ll be the one making them count.
- Managing the front desk smoothly: booking appointments, answering phone calls, and handling client inquiries with a friendly, can-do attitude.
- Processing payments accurately across cash, card, and POS systems — then balancing the till at the end of each shift like a pro.
- Preparing and reviewing daily sales reports, making sure every transaction is accounted for and the numbers add up.
- Keeping the reception area tidy, organised, and presentable — because a clean desk is a happy desk, right?
- Coordinating with the salon team to ensure clients are seated on time and the daily schedule flows without a hitch.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Previous experience as a Cashier or Receptionist, ideally in a salon, spa, or hospitality setting.
- Solid English communication skills — clear, friendly, and professional, both in person and over the phone.
- Confidence handling cash, card payments, POS systems, and daily sales reports without breaking a sweat.
- A natural knack for customer service — you genuinely enjoy making people feel looked after.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel is all we need).
- A professional, polished appearance and a positive attitude that rubs off on those around you.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with salon booking software (though we’re happy to train the right person).
- A second language like Arabic or Hindi — always a bonus in Abu Dhabi.
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you. If you’ve got the right attitude and a willingness to learn, we’ll meet you halfway.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- A supportive, friendly team that treats you like one of their own from day one.
- A steady, consistent schedule in a prime Abu Dhabi location — no crazy commutes or endless late nights.
- Opportunities to grow within the salon as we expand, whether that’s into supervisory roles or other areas of the business.
- A chance to be creative with your customer service skills — every day brings different clients, different requests, and different energy.
- Staff discounts on salon treatments, because we believe you deserve a little pampering too.
At the end of the day, this is more than just a front-desk job. It’s a role where your reliability keeps everything running smoothly, and your personality keeps clients coming back. If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you.
Common Interview Questions and Tips
To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.
- Walk me through a time when you had to handle a difficult or upset client at the front desk. What was going through your head, and how did you turn the situation around?
- How do you keep yourself organised when the phones are ringing, clients are waiting, and you still need to process payments accurately? Give me an example from a busy day.
- Let's say you're balancing the till at the end of your shift and it's short by 20 dirhams. What's your process for handling that discrepancy, and how would you communicate it to your manager?
- What does a genuinely warm welcome look like to you? How do you make a client feel like they're in exactly the right place within the first thirty seconds?
- Tell me about a time you had to juggle multiple booking requests while also managing walk-ins. How did you prioritise, and what did you learn about keeping the schedule flowing?
- If a client calls to book a treatment but they're unsure what they want, how would you guide them? What questions would you ask to help them decide?
- How comfortable are you with numbers and daily sales reports? Walk me through how you'd double-check your transactions at the end of a shift to make sure everything adds up.
- Describe a moment when you noticed something in a reception area or front-of-house environment that wasn't quite right — maybe it was untidy or disorganised — and you took the initiative to fix it without being asked.
- What does being part of a tight-knit team mean to you, and how have you contributed to that kind of environment in a previous job?
- The salon gets especially busy on weekends. How do you keep your energy and positivity up during those high-pressure stretches, and what do you do to stay focused?
- Tell me about a time you had to coordinate with other team members — like stylists or therapists — to make sure a client was seated on time. How did you handle any hic
