About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Ever dreamed of working in a place where your smile is as important as your skill set? We’re looking for a dual-talented Receptionist & Nail Technician to join a busy, boutique beauty center in the heart of Abu Dhabi. This isn’t your typical front-desk role — it’s a hybrid position for someone who loves the buzz of a salon floor but also has the artistry to deliver flawless manicures and pedicures. If you’re someone who thrives on making clients feel welcomed the moment they walk in, and equally satisfied when they walk out, this could be the perfect fit.

About the Company

We’re a well-established beauty destination known for our personalized approach to self-care. Tucked away in a prime Abu Dhabi location, our center has built a loyal clientele who appreciate attention to detail and a warm, friendly atmosphere. Our team is a tight-knit group of professionals who genuinely enjoy what they do — there’s a real sense of camaraderie here, and we celebrate each other’s wins, whether that’s a glowing client review or mastering a new nail art technique. We’re not a faceless chain; we’re a place where regulars ask for you by name, and new clients feel like they’ve found their spot.

What You’ll Be Doing (Responsibilities)

This role is all about balance. One moment you’re the friendly face coordinating the day’s flow, and the next you’re stepping in to deliver a stunning gel manicure. Your day-to-day will look something like this:

  • Be the first impression: Greet clients with genuine warmth as they arrive, making them feel instantly at ease.
  • Master the phones and schedule: Manage incoming calls, book appointments efficiently, and handle confirmations or rescheduling with a calm, professional tone.
  • Keep the floor moving: Coordinate between the hair, skin, and nail departments to ensure smooth transitions and minimal wait times for clients.
  • Handle the details: Process payments, manage the waiting area, and ensure the front desk is always organized and presentable.
  • Step up to the chair: Perform high-quality manicure and pedicure services when the nail team is fully booked or a team member is out — your skills will be a lifesaver.
  • Elevate the experience: Offer thoughtful recommendations on nail care and retail products, turning a simple service into a memorable visit.

What You’ll Bring (Qualifications)

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the variety this role offers. You’re not just looking for a job — you’re looking for a place where your organizational skills and creative talent can shine together.

Must-Haves:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a similar dual role or within a fast-paced salon environment.
  • Solid experience performing manicures and pedicures, with a keen eye for hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic is a definite plus, as many of our clients are local).
  • Impeccable presentation and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle phone calls, walk-ins, and appointments without breaking a sweat.
  • Proficiency with booking systems or the ability to learn new software quickly.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • A certification in nail technology or beauty therapy.
  • Experience with upselling retail products or salon packages.
  • A knack for remembering client preferences — it’s those little touches that build loyalty.

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you — passion and a great attitude can go a long way.

Why You’ll Love Working Here (Benefits & Perks)

We believe that happy team members create happy clients, so we try to look after our people. Here’s a glimpse of what’s in it for you:

  • Competitive salary that reflects your combined skill set, plus attractive commission on nail services.
  • A supportive, collaborative team that feels more like a family than coworkers — we genuinely have each other’s backs.
  • Consistent working hours in a prime location, with easy access to public transport.
  • Opportunities to grow — as we expand, we prefer to promote from within.
  • A beautiful, modern workspace where you’ll be proud to spend your day.

At the end of the day, this is more than just a receptionist job with a side of nails. It’s a chance to become an integral part of a thriving beauty hub, where your dual talents are not just appreciated — they’re essential. If this sounds like your kind of place, we’d love to meet you.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Walk me through a typical day in your current or most recent salon role — how do you split your time between front-desk duties and hands-on nail services?
  • Imagine you're in the middle of a gel manicure and the reception phone is ringing non-stop while two clients are waiting to check out. How do you handle that in the moment?
  • What’s your process for ensuring your manicure and pedicure stations meet hygiene and sanitation standards every single time?
  • Tell me about a time you had to reschedule a client’s appointment and they were clearly frustrated. How did you turn that conversation around?
  • How do you keep track of client preferences — whether it’s their favorite polish shade or the fact they always want extra cuticle care — and how do you use that to make their visit special?
  • What booking or scheduling software have you used before, and how quickly do you typically get comfortable with a new system?
  • Describe a situation where the nail team was overwhelmed and you had to step in under pressure. How did you prioritize and deliver quality work without cutting corners?
  • How would you handle a walk-in client who wants a full set of acrylics right when you’re managing a phone call and the front desk is getting busy?
  • What’s your approach to suggesting retail products or add-on services without making the client feel pressured or upsold?
  • Tell me about a time you disagreed with a coworker or had to coordinate with another department to keep things running smoothly. How did you handle it?
  • In a boutique setting like ours, clients often remember the little things. What do you personally do to make someone feel genuinely welcomed from the moment they walk in?
  • How do you stay energized and maintain a warm, friendly demeanor when the salon gets chaotic and you’re switching between reception and nail services all day?
  • Arabic is a big plus here — how comfortable are you communicating with Arabic-speaking clients, and how would you handle a situation

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

For this hybrid role in Abu Dhabi, you should expect a salary of at least 4,500 to 6,000 AED per month, given that you're bringing two distinct skill sets to the table. Similar dual-role positions in boutique beauty centers typically land in this range, especially when you factor in the 3+ years of experience required and your ability to handle both front-desk operations and nail services. Since the job includes commission on nail services, your actual take-home could push higher than the base figure, so don't undersell yourself during negotiations—make sure you're clear that your combined expertise is worth more than a standard receptionist salary.
