About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Build Something That Lasts — With a Team That Values Your Craft
Ever walked past a finished building and thought, "I helped make that"? If you're a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in work that stands up to close inspection, this opportunity is worth a closer look. We're hiring Construction Workers and Craftsmen for immediate start on building and finishing works — the kind of hands-on roles where your experience speaks louder than any CV. Whether you lay blocks, smooth plaster, cut tile, or bring walls to life with paint, there's a place for you on this crew.
About the Company
We're a recruitment partner connecting experienced tradespeople with active construction projects that need skilled hands right now — not in three months. The teams we staff run on a simple principle: good craftsmanship gets noticed, and reliable people get called back. You'll be joining sites where punctuality isn't a suggestion and quality isn't negotiable, but where the people who deliver are genuinely valued.
The crews are diverse, the pace is steady, and the work is real. If you've been looking for a role where showing up on time and doing excellent work actually means something, you'll fit right in.
What You'll Be Doing
- Block masons (bricklayers): Lay blocks and bricks to line, level, and plumb — reading site drawings and keeping courses true
- Plasterers: Apply and finish plaster to walls and ceilings, achieving a smooth, even surface ready for the next stage
- Painters: Prepare surfaces and apply paint coats with clean edges and consistent coverage, interior and exterior
- Tile & ceramic fitters: Set tiles and ceramics with precise alignment, correct spacing, and clean grout lines
- Work alongside other trades to keep finishing works moving on schedule
- Maintain a safe, tidy work area and follow site safety requirements
- Report progress and flag issues early — nobody likes surprises on a finishing deadline
What You'll Bring
Must-Haves:
- A valid, transferable or secondment residence visa
- Relevant hands-on experience in your trade — we care about what you can do, not just what's on paper
- High efficiency and a genuine commitment to quality
- Punctuality and serious dedication to the job — the site depends on you being there
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience across more than one finishing trade
- Familiarity with current site safety practices
- The ability to work independently when needed, and pitch in with the team when it counts
Not sure you tick every box? We'd still love to hear from you — skills and attitude matter more than a perfect checklist.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- Competitive salary or piece-rate pay — your output is recognized and rewarded
- Immediate start — skip the waiting game and get on site
- Steady work on active building and finishing projects
- A team culture built on reliability, respect, and getting the job done right
Please note: this recruitment company applies a job application fee.
If you're ready to put your skills to work where they're appreciated, this is your moment. Good tradespeople are always in demand — and this team is ready to welcome you.
Common Interview Questions and Tips
To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.
- Walk me through how you set out and lay a block wall to keep it true to line, level, and plumb — what checks do you do as the course goes up?
- For the plasterers and painters out there: how do you decide when a surface is properly prepped, and what's your process for getting a finish that passes a close inspection?
- When you're tiling, how do you handle a wall or floor that isn't quite square — what's your approach to keeping alignment and grout lines clean?
- Tell me about a time a finishing job went wrong — a surface failed, a deadline slipped, or another trade's work threw yours off. What did you do, and what did you learn?
- How do you read site drawings and coordinate with other trades when several of you are working in the same area on a tight schedule?
- Describe a situation where you spotted a problem or safety risk before it became a bigger issue. How did you flag it, and who did you tell?
- What does a safe, tidy work area look like to you at the end of the day, and how do you keep it that way when the pace picks up?
- Have you ever had to work independently on a task with little supervision? How did you make sure the quality held up?
- Tell me about a time you disagreed with how a job was being done. How did you raise it, and how did it play out?
- What keeps you coming back to this trade, and what does doing the job "right" actually mean to you?
- This work depends on people showing up on time, every day. How do you handle the mornings when things don't go to plan?
- If you could pick up experience in a second finishing trade, which one would it be and why?
