About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Introduction
Ever wondered what it takes to turn a blueprint into a building people actually want to walk into? We're on the hunt for Multi-Skilled Tradesmen and Technicians who know their way around a construction site—not just in theory, but with the kind of hands-on know-how that comes from years of doing the work. Right now, we're especially keen to meet Tile Masons who can lay ceramic, porcelain, marble, and mosaic with precision and pride. If you've got a primary trade you've mastered and don't mind rolling up your sleeves for the odd secondary task, this could be the site you've been looking for.
About the Company
We're a growing construction team operating across the UAE, and we've built our reputation on doing things properly—on time, on budget, and without cutting corners. The sites are busy, the standards are high, and the crew genuinely looks out for one another. Friday mornings usually start with a quick toolbox talk and a strong cup of karak before everyone gets stuck in. It's a place where good work gets noticed, and where the people who show up and put in the effort tend to stick around for the long haul.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lay ceramic, porcelain, marble, and mosaic tiles on floors and walls—getting the lines straight, the levels true, and the finish something you'd be happy to show off.
- Handle screeding and surface leveling so every substrate is prepped properly before a single tile goes down.
- Read drawings and follow specifications, flagging anything that doesn't add up before it becomes a problem.
- Mix adhesives, grouts, and mortars to the right consistency—because we all know a rushed mix shows up six months later.
- Pitch in on secondary tasks around site when the schedule calls for it—whether that's helping with general finishing, material handling, or supporting another trade.
- Keep your work area safe and tidy, follow site safety rules, and look out for the people working around you.
What You'll Bring
Must-Haves
- Solid, practical experience in tiling—ceramic, porcelain, marble, and mosaic—with a portfolio or references to back it up.
- Confidence with screeding, leveling, and surface preparation.
- The ability to work from drawings and specs without constant hand-holding.
- A genuine willingness to support other tasks on site when needed.
- A valid work status that lets you join a UAE-based construction team.
Nice-to-Haves
- A secondary trade—plastering, painting, blockwork, or general finishing—would be a real bonus.
- Experience on larger commercial or residential projects in the Gulf region.
- A safety certification or training you're proud to mention.
Not sure you tick every box? We'd still love to hear from you—skills can be sharpened, but attitude and craftsmanship are harder to teach.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- Competitive pay that reflects your skill level and the trade you bring to the table.
- Accommodation and transport support for site-based roles—no scrambling to figure out the commute.
- Steady pipeline of projects across the UAE, so you're not sitting idle between jobs.
- A crew that respects good work—supervisors who've come up through the trades themselves.
- Room to grow—pick up new skills, take on bigger responsibilities, and move up as the team expands.
- A proper safety culture—helmets on, procedures followed, and nobody pressured into cutting corners.
We're not promising a cushy desk job—this is real construction work, with real deadlines and real pride in the finish. But if you're a skilled tradesman who wants to be valued for what you can do with your hands, you'll fit right in here.
Common Interview Questions and Tips
To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.
- Walk me through your process for laying a large-format porcelain tile on a floor—from checking the substrate to the final grout. What are the steps you never skip?
- How do you handle a marble installation where the client wants tight, nearly invisible joints? What changes in your approach compared to standard ceramic work?
- Tell me about a time you spotted a problem in the drawings or specs before it turned into a costly mistake on site. What did you do, and what was the outcome?
- How do you decide the right consistency for your adhesive or mortar mix, and what goes wrong when it's off? Have you ever had to deal with the fallout of a bad mix later on?
- Describe your experience with screeding and surface leveling. What's your method for getting a substrate truly flat before tiling begins?
- You've got a wall of mosaic sheets to install and the pattern has to line up perfectly across a corner. How do you plan and execute that so the lines stay true?
- Tell me about a time you were asked to pitch in on a task outside your main trade. How did you handle it, and how did it go?
- Imagine your tiling work is finished and signed off, but a supervisor asks you to redo a section because the levels are slightly off. How do you respond in that moment?
- What's the busiest or most demanding project you've worked on in the Gulf region? What made it tough, and how did you keep your quality up under pressure?
- Safety is a big deal on our sites. Can you give me an example of a time you spoke up about a hazard or stopped a risky situation—even if it wasn't your own work area?
- What's your secondary trade, if you have one, and how confident are you working in it when the schedule calls for it?
- When you're handed a set of drawings and a spec, what do you check first? Walk me through how you
