About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Ever found yourself admiring the precise fit of a custom bookshelf or the artful finish on a one-of-a-kind panel wall? At BLACK, we think there’s something a little magical about a skilled carpenter’s touch. We're searching for a talented Carpenter to help us bring sophisticated interiors and original decorative projects to life—because as anyone in the business knows, great design can only become reality with expert craftsmanship behind it.
About BLACK
We’re a tight-knit team of creators, designers, and builders based in an environment that values collaboration just as much as creativity. BLACK started out as a small studio focused on bespoke interiors; over the years, we’ve grown into one of the go-to names for high-end fit-outs and out-of-the-ordinary decorative features. Weekly brainstorms are a must, and you’ll often find us swapping stories about the quirkiest requests our clients have dreamed up. Bringing ideas to life with quality—and a bit of flair—is what keeps us buzzing.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Reading and interpreting detailed technical drawings and blueprints, translating them into finished woodwork that matches our design intent.
- Cutting, shaping, and assembling a range of materials—think MDF, natural woods, panels, and the occasional surprise texture—based on project specs.
- Collaborating closely with our design team to solve tricky build challenges and make creative visions practical.
- Taking accurate measurements on-site to guarantee the perfect fit for every piece.
- Fitting, installing, and finishing custom carpentry elements onsite with an eye for both precision and aesthetics.
- Suggesting new methods and materials to help us raise the bar on quality or efficiency—it’s a bonus if you enjoy a little experimentation!
- Keeping workspaces and equipment organized and well-maintained (a tidy bench is a happy bench, right?).
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Proven experience as a carpenter, especially in high-quality interior fit-outs and decorative carpentry.
- Solid skills with various types of wood and wood-based panels (MDF, plywood, solid timber).
- Ability to accurately read and execute from technical drawings and blueprints.
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a collaborative, sometimes fast-paced team.
- Strong attention to detail—being “particular” is a plus here!
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with unique finishes or specialty joinery techniques.
- Prior exposure to working directly alongside designers or architects.
- A knack for creative problem-solving on-the-fly.
Not sure you tick every box? Reach out anyway—we know the right teammate isn’t always a checklist.
