About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Do you have a passion for crafting authentic Arabic flavors, and take pride in turning traditional dishes into memorable experiences? We’re seeking an accomplished Cook specializing in Arabic cuisine to bring their culinary talents into a private Emirati household. If you love working in an intimate, appreciative environment (rather than a frantic restaurant kitchen), this could be your ideal opportunity. Imagine making your mark with signature dishes while enjoying the comforts and stability of a well-supported home kitchen in the heart of the UAE.

About the Company

This private household values good food, warm hospitality, and genuine cultural connection. The family takes pride in gathering around the table and celebrating both everyday meals and special occasions with the tastes they love most. Hospitality is more than tradition here—it’s a way of life. You’ll find a respectful, friendly environment where your expertise is truly appreciated, and teamwork is about clear communication and helping each other shine. If you appreciate stability, kindness, and a home where food is at the heart of daily life (and where your culinary skills are celebrated, not taken for granted), you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic Arabic dishes, from mezze to main courses and beyond
  • Curate daily and event-based menus tailored to the family’s tastes and dietary preferences
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen at all times
  • Plan ingredient sourcing and manage pantry inventories to ensure freshness and minimal waste
  • Ensure all meals are presented with care and attention to detail
  • Flexibly adapt to special requests, guest events, or changes in mealtime routines
  • Occasionally collaborate with other household staff to coordinate seamless meal service

What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves

  • Proven experience preparing traditional Arabic cuisine (think: kabsa, mansaf, mezze, grilled meats, and more)
  • Solid understanding of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and organizational best practices
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently without direct supervision
  • Strong sense of responsibility and respect for the privacy of the household

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience working in private homes, villas, or for families
  • Ability to accommodate dietary restrictions with creativity
  • Friendly disposition and willingness to be part of a tight-knit team

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Accommodation provided—rest easy in your own comfortable space
  • Meals included—enjoy authentic, delicious food as part of your day
  • Visa sponsorship—handle your paperwork with ease, focus on your craft
  • Supportive, respectful work environment where your expertise is valued
  • Located in the UAE’s vibrant, multicultural setting
  • Stability of a long-term role, with a consistent schedule—no late-night restaurant chaos
  • A sense of belonging: become an essential part of the household’s daily life

We believe that good food brings people closer together—and that a dedicated cook deserves to feel appreciated. If you’re ready for a fresh chapter in your culinary career, we hope you’ll reach out.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Can you walk us through your process for preparing an authentic Arabic main dish, such as kabsa or mansaf? What techniques or personal touches do you incorporate?
  • How do you approach menu planning for a week in a private household, especially when balancing family favorites and healthy variety?
  • What steps do you take to ensure strict kitchen hygiene and food safety standards while cooking and organizing the pantry?
  • Tell me about a time you needed to adapt a traditional Arabic recipe to accommodate a dietary restriction. How did you maintain flavor and authenticity?
  • In your previous experience, how have you managed ingredient sourcing to ensure freshness and minimize waste, especially when working outside of a restaurant environment?
  • How would you handle a situation where a family member or guest makes a last-minute change to meal preferences or timing?
  • Describe an occasion when you collaborated with other household staff (such as servers, nannies, or housekeepers) to create a seamless dining experience.
  • Can you share a memorable moment where your cooking made a significant impact for a family event or special gathering?
  • Working in someone’s private home requires a high degree of trust and discretion. How do you maintain professional boundaries while still being friendly and approachable?
  • How do you keep yourself motivated and organized when working independently, without direct supervision from kitchen management?
  • What appeals to you about joining a close-knit, respectful household environment rather than working in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen?
  • Have you ever introduced a new dish or creative twist to a traditional meal that was particularly well received? What inspired you to make that change?
  • How do you handle feedback on your food—whether it’s positive, constructive, or a simple preference for something different?
  • In your view, what is the role of food and the cook in creating a sense of home and hospitality for a family?

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

You should expect a salary of at least 3,500–5,000 AED per month for a skilled Arabic cuisine cook in a private Emirati household, especially when accommodation, meals, and visa support are included. Similar roles in the UAE’s domestic sector often fall within this range, but if you have substantial professional experience or specialized skills, it’s reasonable to discuss a higher offer. Negotiating for clear days off and benefits in addition to salary is also common and advisable.
