About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Ever considered a role where your daily work genuinely changes someone's world? This isn't your typical housekeeping position—it's a chance to become a trusted companion and steady hand for a young woman navigating university life without her sight. We're looking for a patient, kind-hearted individual to help manage a cozy home in Al Jerf, Ajman, and provide essential support to my sister as she pursues her education. It’s a unique blend of homemaking and meaningful human connection, all wrapped into one rewarding job.

About the Role

This is a private household position, which means you won't be part of a large corporate team—you'll be an integral part of our small family dynamic. Our home is modest and manageable: just a one-bedroom flat that’s easy to keep tidy. The real heart of this job is the companionship and assistance you'll offer my sister. She's bright, determined, and studying at university, but she needs a reliable partner to help with daily routines, both at home and on campus. If you're someone who finds satisfaction in being genuinely helpful and enjoys building trust, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Household Care: Keeping our compact one-bedroom flat clean and organized—think sweeping, mopping, laundry, and making sure everything has its place. It’s a small space, so daily upkeep is quick and straightforward.
  • Personal Assistance: Helping my sister with her morning and evening routines. This might include assisting with dressing, personal hygiene, and preparing meals. Your patience and respect for her independence will mean the world.
  • University Support: Accompanying her to university and staying with her during classes. You'll help her navigate the campus, take notes if needed, and assist with carrying books or any physical tasks she finds challenging.
  • Daily Companionship: Simply being there—engaging in conversation, accompanying her on short walks, or just offering a reassuring presence. Your attentiveness will help her feel confident and at ease.

What You'll Bring

Must-Haves:

  • A genuinely caring and patient nature—this is the most important quality.
  • Prior experience in caregiving, housekeeping, or supporting individuals with disabilities is a big plus.
  • Good physical health and the ability to be active throughout the day.
  • Basic English communication skills to interact effectively with my sister and university staff.
  • A responsible, trustworthy attitude. You'll be a key part of her daily life.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • First aid knowledge or relevant caregiving certifications.
  • An understanding of or willingness to learn about assisting visually impaired individuals.
  • A cheerful, adaptable personality that can handle unexpected situations with grace.

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you—your character and willingness to learn matter just as much as experience.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Accommodation & Food: Your own private room within the flat, plus all meals provided. No living expenses to worry about.
  • Meaningful Work: Every day, you'll see the direct impact of your support on my sister's confidence and academic success. That’s a reward money can't buy.
  • Stable Schedule: A consistent routine centered around university hours, giving you predictable free time in the evenings.
  • A Supportive Environment: We’re not just hiring a housekeeper; we’re welcoming someone into our family. You'll be treated with respect and appreciation.

This is more than just a job—it's an opportunity to make a real difference in someone's life while living in a comfortable, low-stress setting. If you have a big heart and a willingness to help, we'd love to meet you.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Walk me through a typical day when you’ve had to support someone with a visual impairment—what did you do, and what did you learn from that experience?
  • How would you help my sister keep her independence during her morning routine while still being there when she needs a hand?
  • Can you describe a time when you had to be patient with someone who was struggling with something you found easy? What did that look like?
  • Imagine we’re on campus and she’s feeling overwhelmed between classes. What would you do to help her reset and feel confident again?
  • What’s your approach to keeping a small living space consistently clean and organized without being asked twice?
  • Tell me about a moment when you had to adapt quickly to an unexpected change in someone’s care plan or daily schedule. How did you handle it?
  • How do you balance being a supportive companion with giving someone the space they need to do things on their own?
  • If my sister tells you she doesn’t want help with something but you can see she’s struggling, how would you respond?
  • What does “being trustworthy” mean to you in a role like this, and how would you earn that trust in the first few weeks?
  • We’re looking for someone who’s genuinely caring, not just doing a job. What draws you to this kind of work beyond the paycheck?
  • You’ll be with her during university hours—how would you keep yourself engaged and attentive during long lectures without being distracting?
  • Have you ever had to communicate with someone when language or clarity was a challenge? How did you make sure you understood each other?

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

This salary reflects typical starting compensation for live-in caregiving and household support roles in the UAE, especially when accommodation and all meals are provided—which significantly reduces your monthly living costs. The package aligns with current trends for private household positions that offer a stable schedule and a supportive family environment, making it an excellent opportunity for someone seeking meaningful work and a comfortable, expense-free living arrangement. Beyond the monetary value, the role offers invaluable experience in caregiving and the deep personal reward of making a tangible difference in someone's daily life.
