About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Introduction
Ever asked yourself what it feels like to be the calm in the center of a construction whirlwind—the person everyone trusts to keep the entire operation running on time? As a Planning Engineer with our contracting team, you'll be stepping right into that crucial role out at site. If the thought of bringing order and insight to fast-paced building projects excites you, this is your chance to make a direct impact where it matters most: on the ground, with your colleagues counting on you.
About the Company
We’re a UAE-based contracting company that’s never lost sight of what makes projects succeed: people who care, and teams who support each other when things get tough (and in construction, they do!). Our culture? “Hands-on” might be an understatement—everyone, from site managers to engineers, pitches in and celebrates wins together, big or small. There’s a special energy here, from early-morning site coffees to that team high-five when another tricky deadline gets crossed off the board. Change is constant, but commitment to quality and safety is something we never compromise.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing and maintaining detailed project schedules using Primavera P6—your ability to forecast timelines makes the difference between smooth sailing and last-minute scrambles.
- Tracking progress onsite, gathering data directly and updating schedules so everyone’s got real, actionable insight into what’s going on (no guesswork).
- Generating clear, concise progress reports that go beyond the numbers—helping the team and management see the story behind the stats.
- Coordinating closely with site teams, project managers, and subcontractors—if communication were a bridge, you’re the architect.
- Spotting potential delays and proactively recommending adjustments to keep everything on track.
- Using Excel to dig into the details, analyze trends, and present information that supports smart decision-making (pivot tables are your friend).
- Ensuring reports and schedules support compliance with client specs and contractual obligations.
- Getting involved in regular site meetings; your input helps everyone stay focused on the right priorities.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in construction or contracting—ideally site-based, because you know how theory meets real life.
- Mastery of project scheduling and progress tracking, especially with Primavera P6.
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel (think: formulas, charts, a bit more than averages).
- Confidence in preparing detailed progress reports and presenting updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong communication skills; you know how to explain, persuade, and sometimes politely chase up busy colleagues.
- A proactive attitude—when you see a scheduling issue, you bring solutions, not just problems.
- Ability to work full time, site-based.
Nice-to-Haves
- Previous experience in the UAE construction industry—if you already know the local rhythms, you’ll find your feet even faster.
- Familiarity with additional project management or reporting tools.
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Competitive salary package—details discussed in person, because we know it’s more than just numbers.
- Hands-on learning in a company that values upskilling—Primavera wizards and spreadsheet fans, welcome!
- Friendly, supportive team that values honest feedback (and isn’t afraid of early site mornings).
- Real chances for progression—show initiative and commitment, and you’ll have plenty of room to grow.
- Onsite camaraderie—shared breaks, impromptu brainstorming, and the occasional treat after a job well done.
- Exposure to major construction projects that push your skills and keep every day interesting.
At the end of the day, you’ll be surrounded by people who get that planning isn’t just about dates and numbers—it’s about setting up your colleagues for success and seeing projects come to life.
