About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Ever wonder what it’s like to have a real impact on what reaches customers’ tables — and to do it with the freshest goods around? As a Purchasing Officer in our new venture, you’ll be right at the intersection of supply chain savvy and food quality, ensuring that only the best fruits and veggies make it from growers to our clients. If you’re someone who loves the hustle of finding the perfect produce and has a knack for building solid supplier relationships, this could be your sweet spot because we’re growing fast and the possibilities are ripe for the picking.
About the Company
We’re not your typical produce supplier. Sure, we’re the new kid on the block, but we’re fueled by a genuine passion for connecting people with the freshest picks the market has to offer. Around here, quick thinking and openness to fresh ideas matter just as much as experience. Our team is collaborative, supportive, and enjoys celebrating big wins — like landing that elusive batch of perfect mangoes — almost as much as our Friday rhythm-and-fruit music breaks in the warehouse. We like to keep things lighthearted, but we’re all in when it comes to integrity, fairness, and sustainability.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Proactively source and purchase high-quality fresh fruits and vegetables from trustworthy suppliers, both locally and internationally.
- Build, nurture, and sustain strong, reliable relationships with growers, wholesalers, and exporters — you’ll be the friendly face (or voice!) they trust.
- Negotiate the best possible terms, pricing, and delivery schedules without compromising on quality or ethics.
- Monitor current market trends, pricing fluctuations, and seasonal availability — keeping us two steps ahead.
- Collaborate with our sales and logistics teams to anticipate upcoming needs and ensure product arrives just as it should: fresh and on time.
- Audit and evaluate supplier performance regularly, sharing insights and suggesting improvements.
- Manage purchasing records, contracts, and reporting with accuracy and diligence.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Solid experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably within fresh produce or FMCG (fruits & veggies experience is a big plus).
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills — you know how to build bridges (and occasionally, smooth things over).
- Eagle-eyed attention to detail, especially when it comes to product quality and delivery timelines.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, startup-style environment where processes are evolving and teamwork is key.
- A genuine passion for the fresh food industry — you like knowing where your produce comes from.
- Fluency in English (additional language skills, like Arabic, are a bonus).
Nice-to-Haves:
- Established network of local fruit and veg suppliers.
- Experience with inventory management software or ERP systems.
- Understanding of food safety standards and certifications.
Not sure you fit every bullet point? We’d still love to get to know you — motivation and potential speak volumes.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Competitive salary, plus opportunities for performance-based bonuses.
- Flexible working hours — some remote options, and understanding when life calls for a little juggling.
- Support for professional development; we’ll help you deepen your knowledge of the industry and expand your supplier network.
- A tight-knit team excited to grow together — your voice will be heard and your ideas valued.
- Regular team socials, fresh produce tastings, and an open feedback culture.
- Early days mean big impact: you’ll help shape our approach and grow alongside the company.
We truly believe work should be a place where you feel connected, respected, and inspired. If you’re ready to help us bring the best of the world’s harvest to our customers, this could be your next great role.
