About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Ever walked into a place and instantly felt welcome? That’s the kind of energy we’re after. Smart Motor Auto Repair is on the hunt for a polished, people-oriented Receptionist cum Customer Service Executive to be the first and last face our clients see. This isn’t just about answering phones—it’s about orchestrating a seamless experience for car owners in the heart of Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. If you thrive on multitasking and have a knack for calming stressed-out drivers, this could be your pit stop.

About the Company

We’re Smart Motor Auto Repair, a busy and growing automotive service center located in the industrial pulse of Mussafah M9. We’re not a faceless corporate chain; we’re a team of gearheads and problem-solvers who take pride in getting vehicles back on the road safely. Our workshop buzzes with activity, but our front desk is the true control room. Here, you’ll find a culture that values straight talk, quick thinking, and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction. We work hard, we move fast, and we look out for each other—because when the shop floor is chaotic, we know the front office is what keeps everything running smoothly.

What You’ll Be Doing (Responsibilities)

  • Be the Voice & Face: Greet every customer with a warm, professional demeanor as they walk in, and handle incoming calls with clarity and patience—whether they’re speaking Arabic or English.
  • Manage the Service Queue: Coordinate with the workshop team to schedule appointments, log service requests, and keep customers updated on their vehicle’s status without them having to ask twice.
  • Handle the Admin Flow: Process invoices, collect payments, and maintain accurate records of customer interactions. You’ll be the go-to person for paperwork, so attention to detail is non-negotiable.
  • Bridge the Gap: Translate technical jargon from the mechanics into simple, understandable language for customers. You’ll be the translator between the garage and the client, making sure everyone’s on the same page.
  • Troubleshoot on the Fly: Handle complaints and unexpected hiccups with a cool head. Sometimes a customer is frustrated—your job is to turn that frown around before they even reach the manager’s desk.

What You’ll Bring (Qualifications)

Must-Haves:

  • Fluency in Arabic and English (both written and spoken) is absolutely essential—you’ll be switching between the two constantly.
  • Proven customer service experience (ideally in an automotive, hospitality, or service-oriented environment).
  • Solid computer skills—you’re comfortable with basic MS Office and can learn new booking software quickly.
  • A professional, presentable appearance and a friendly, approachable personality that puts people at ease.
  • Strong organizational skills—you can juggle multiple phone lines, walk-in customers, and paperwork without breaking a sweat.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Previous experience in an auto repair shop or garage setting.
  • Knowledge of local Abu Dhabi roads and a valid UAE driving license.

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you. If you’ve got the right attitude and a willingness to learn, we’re willing to train the right person.

Why You’ll Love Working Here (Benefits & Perks)

  • Competitive Salary: We believe in rewarding good work—your package will reflect your experience and skills.
  • Career Growth: We’re a growing business, which means there’s room to move up. Show us what you’ve got, and we’ll find a place for you.
  • Team Atmosphere: You won’t be stuck in a lonely lobby. Our team is tight-knit, supportive, and always up for a laugh during tea breaks.
  • Stable Hours: We respect work-life balance. You’ll have a consistent schedule that lets you plan your life outside the workshop.
  • Hands-On Experience: You’ll learn the ins and outs of the automotive industry—useful knowledge whether you stay with us for the long haul or just for a pit stop.

At the end of the day, this is more than just a receptionist gig. You’ll be the glue that holds our customer experience together, and we genuinely appreciate the people who do that well. If you’re ready to bring your energy to Mussafah, we’d love to meet you.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Walk me through a typical day when you’re managing multiple phone lines, a walk-in customer, and a mechanic asking for a job card update—how do you prioritize without dropping the ball?
  • How would you explain a complex mechanical issue—like a failing transmission or a faulty ECU—to a customer who has zero technical knowledge, using plain language?
  • Tell me about a time you had to handle an angry or frustrated customer. What exactly did you say, and how did you turn that situation around?
  • We’re a bilingual shop, so you’ll be switching between Arabic and English constantly. Can you give me an example of a time you had to act as a translator—not just words, but tone and meaning?
  • How comfortable are you with learning new booking or invoicing software on the fly? Walk me through how you’d approach mastering a system you’ve never used before by the end of your first week.
  • Describe a situation where you had to coordinate with a busy workshop team to reschedule appointments or juggle urgent jobs. How did you keep everyone informed and avoid misunderstandings?
  • What does “excellent customer service” mean to you in a fast-paced garage environment, where the mechanic might be up to their elbows in grease but the customer just wants answers?
  • There will be days when the lobby is packed and the phone won’t stop ringing, and you’re the only one at the front desk. How do you keep your composure and stay organized under that kind of pressure?
  • We value straight talk and quick thinking here. Give me an example of a time you had to make a judgment call on your own because there was no time to check with a supervisor—what did you do and what was the outcome?
  • Why are you interested in working in the automotive industry specifically, rather than another customer service role? What draws you to the pace and atmosphere of a workshop like ours?
  • What does being the “first and last

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

Based on similar front-desk and customer service executive roles in Abu Dhabi, particularly in the automotive and service industries, you should expect a salary of at least 3,500 to 5,000 AED per month. Since this role requires full bilingual fluency in Arabic and English, which is a premium skill, you can reasonably aim for the higher end of that range, especially if you bring prior experience in a garage or workshop setting. If you have strong technical knowledge or a valid UAE driving license, don't hesitate to negotiate closer to 5,500 AED.
