About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Introduction
Ever wondered what it takes to turn a stack of technical drawings into the sleek glass-and-metal façades that define Abu Dhabi's skyline? That's where you come in. We're looking for an experienced Aluminum Technician who can fabricate and install windows, doors, façades, and partitions with the kind of precision that makes a building look effortless. If you've got a steady hand, a sharp eye for detail, and a few years of on-site experience behind you, this role could be the next solid step in your career.
About the Company
We're a contracting company based in Abu Dhabi that's built its reputation on doing things properly — no shortcuts, no cutting corners, no "we'll fix it later." Our crews work across residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects, and most of our new work comes from clients who've hired us before. That should tell you something about how we operate.
The workshop and site teams work closely together, which means the person fabricating a frame usually knows exactly where it's headed and who's installing it. There's a real sense of ownership here, and it shows in the finish of every job we hand over.
What You'll Be Doing
- Read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings, and site measurements to plan each fabrication job accurately.
- Take precise field measurements on-site, accounting for tolerances, levels, and the little surprises that old buildings love to throw at you.
- Operate cutting, drilling, milling, and assembly machines safely and efficiently — and keep them maintained so they keep performing.
- Fabricate aluminum windows, doors, façades, and partition systems to spec, checking dimensions at every stage rather than at the end.
- Install finished units on-site, including framing, glazing, sealing, and hardware fitting, ensuring everything is level, square, and watertight.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, engineers, and other trades so installations don't hold up the wider project schedule.
- Follow all health and safety regulations on-site and in the workshop — PPE, safe machine handling, and proper housekeeping are non-negotiable.
- Troubleshoot fitment issues on the spot and flag anything that needs a design or measurement revision before it becomes a costly problem.
What You'll Bring
Must-Haves
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in aluminum fabrication and installation, ideally on windows, doors, façades, or partitioning systems.
- Confident reading and working from technical and shop drawings.
- Solid command of cutting, assembly, and machining equipment used in aluminum fabrication.
- Strong measurement skills — you know the difference between "close enough" and "correct."
- A genuine commitment to health and safety practices on-site and in the workshop.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew, with basic communication skills in English.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with glazing systems or curtain wall installation.
- A valid UAE driving license.
- Relevant trade certification or vocational training in aluminum works or metal fabrication.
Not sure you tick every box? We'd still love to hear from you — skills can be sharpened, but a good attitude and a careful pair of hands are harder to teach.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- Competitive salary with timely payment — because that matters more than people admit.
- Accommodation and transport support for eligible candidates.
- Steady project pipeline across Abu Dhabi, so you're not sitting idle between jobs.
- Overtime opportunities when project timelines demand it, paid fairly.
- Proper tools and equipment — we don't expect you to improvise with worn-out gear.
- A team that respects the trade — your work is seen, and good work gets noticed.
- Room to grow into senior fabrication or site supervisory roles for the right person.
We know aluminum work is demanding — long days, tight tolerances, and Abu Dhabi heat don't exactly make it easy. But if you take pride in what you build and want to do it alongside people who feel the same way, this is a place where you'll fit right in.
Common Interview Questions and Tips
To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.
- Walk me through how you typically approach a new fabrication job, from the moment you receive the shop drawings to the final quality check before it leaves the workshop.
- Can you describe your experience with glazing systems or curtain wall installation? What's the most challenging unit you've worked on?
- What cutting, milling, and assembly machines are you most comfortable operating, and how do you handle routine maintenance to keep them running reliably?
- When you're taking field measurements on-site and discover the actual dimensions don't match the drawings, what's your process for deciding whether to adjust on the spot or flag it for revision?
- How do you ensure a façade or window unit is properly level, square, and watertight during installation? Any tricks of the trade you've picked up?
- Tell me about a time a fitment issue threatened to delay a project. How did you troubleshoot it, and what was the outcome?
- Describe a situation where you had to coordinate with other trades on-site to keep an installation on schedule. What worked well, and what would you do differently?
- Have you ever spotted a measurement or design error before it became a costly problem? Walk me through what happened and how you handled it.
- What does working safely mean to you in practice — both in the workshop and on-site? Give me an example of how you've enforced or followed safety practices.
- This role involves long days and tight tolerances in Abu Dhabi heat. How do you keep your focus and quality consistent when conditions aren't ideal?
- We take pride in doing things properly with no shortcuts. Can you share a time when you chose the harder, more correct approach over the faster, easier one?
- How do you prefer to work within a crew — do you like clear instructions, or do you thrive when given ownership of a task from start to finish?
