About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Ever looked at a city after a heavy rain and wondered who makes sure the water actually goes where it's supposed to? That's the quiet hero work of stormwater infrastructure — and right now, we're looking for a Stormwater Supervisor to help lead it on some of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain's most important drainage projects. This isn't a desk job; it's a boots-in-the-mud, drawings-in-hand kind of role where your decisions on site directly shape how a network performs for decades. If you've got the experience and the instinct for getting things built right the first time, keep reading.

About the Company

We're a civil infrastructure contractor with a reputation built on delivering drainage and utility networks that hold up under the region's toughest conditions — heat, sand, and the occasional torrential downpour included. Our teams work across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and we've grown steadily by doing one thing well: keeping our word on quality and safety. Site culture here is direct and collaborative — superintendents and engineers actually talk to each other, and a good idea from the field gets heard. Friday morning toolbox talks are a fixture, and yes, there's usually karak involved.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supervise day-to-day stormwater drainage network installation — from trench excavation and pipe laying to backfilling and testing — making sure the work on the ground matches the approved engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate site crews, subcontractors, and equipment so that activities flow without bottlenecks, idle time, or rework.
  • Read and interpret drawings and project specs fluently, and flag discrepancies before they turn into expensive problems.
  • Enforce quality standards at every stage — inspections, material checks, and test results — and keep the documentation that proves it.
  • Own safety on your section of site: lead toolbox talks, conduct inspections, and make sure everyone goes home the way they came in.
  • Liaise with project engineers, consultants, and client representatives during inspections and progress reviews.
  • Prepare daily progress reports and keep the project management team informed of risks, delays, or changes on site.

What You'll Bring

Must-Haves

  • Solid hands-on experience supervising stormwater, drainage, or wet utility installation on civil infrastructure projects — ideally in the UAE or a comparable climate.
  • The ability to read engineering drawings and specs and translate them into clear instructions for a crew.
  • A working knowledge of safety regulations and quality control processes on construction sites.
  • Strong coordination skills — you're the person who keeps subcontractors, suppliers, and your own team moving in the same direction.
  • Willingness to be based on site in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain, with the flexibility these projects demand.

Nice-to-Haves

  • A diploma or degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with microtunneling, deep excavations, or large-diameter pipe installation.
  • Familiarity with Abu Dhabi municipality standards and approval processes.

Not sure you tick every box? We'd still love to hear from you — plenty of great supervisors learned the finer points on the job.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Competitive salary with accommodation and transport allowances.
  • Medical insurance for you and your dependents, plus annual leave and flight benefits as per company policy.
  • Real career progression — we promote from within, and several of our project managers started as site supervisors.
  • A safety-first culture that's backed by action, not just posters on the wall.
  • Projects that matter: drainage networks serving growing communities across the Emirates.
  • A team that respects field expertise and keeps communication honest, top to bottom.

If you want your work to stand up — literally — to the test of time and weather, this is the kind of role where you'll see the results every rainy season.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Walk me through your typical process for supervising a stormwater pipe installation from trench excavation through to backfilling and testing — where do you see crews most often cut corners, and how do you catch it early?
  • You're reviewing drawings on site and notice a discrepancy between the pipe invert levels on the profile and what the surveyor has marked out. What do you do next, and who do you loop in before work continues?
  • Tell me about a time a subcontractor's work fell short of the quality standards on your section. How did you handle it, and what was the outcome?
  • What does a strong toolbox talk look like to you? Give me an example of a topic you've led that actually landed with the crew.
  • Describe your experience with deep excavations or large-diameter pipe installation. What specific safety measures do you insist on for trench support and shoring?
  • How do you plan a week of site activities when equipment, crews, and material deliveries all have to line up? Walk me through how you avoid idle time and rework.
  • Talk about a time a project delay or unexpected site condition put you under pressure. How did you communicate it upward, and what did you do on the ground to recover?
  • How do you handle pushback from a crew member or foreman who disagrees with an instruction you've given?
  • What's your experience with Abu Dhabi municipality standards and inspection processes? How do you prepare for a consultant or client inspection so it goes smoothly?
  • Tell me about a safety incident or near miss you witnessed on site. What changed in how you supervised afterward?
  • This role is boots-on-the-ground in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, with the heat and the schedule that come with it. What keeps you motivated in that kind of environment?
  • How do you keep your daily progress reports useful rather than just routine paperwork? What do you make sure the project team actually knows?
  • We pride ourselves on field expertise being heard — a good

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

For a Stormwater Supervisor role with a UAE civil infrastructure contractor, you should expect a monthly salary of roughly 12,000–18,000 AED, with experienced candidates who bring UAE or GCC drainage experience, microtunneling or deep excavation know-how, and familiarity with Abu Dhabi municipality standards often landing toward the upper end of that range. Similar supervisory roles in the UAE construction market typically package a base salary with accommodation and transport allowances, so it's worth clarifying whether those are included in the figure or paid on top, since that can shift your real take-home significantly. Given the site-based nature of the job and the demand for hands-on wet utility expertise, don't be shy about negotiating — candidates who can hit the ground running on Abu Dhabi and Al Ain projects are genuinely hard to find.
