About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Ever thought about being part of some of the most transformative projects shaping Abu Dhabi’s skyline? At Al Mafraq, we’re on the lookout for talented construction professionals—Construction Manager, Project Engineer, and Site Engineer—who aren’t just looking for a job, but a place to make a real impact. With key projects happening in Liwa and across Abu Dhabi, there’s never been a more exciting time to bring your expertise to our team. If you’re ready to dive into challenging builds and grow your career, you might find your next chapter with us.

About the Company

Al Mafraq is more than just another construction company in Abu Dhabi—we’re a community of builders, problem-solvers, and hands-on collaborators. From large-scale developments to innovative local projects, our team thrives on tackling complex challenges with practical ingenuity. We’re passionate about fostering a workplace where experience meets ongoing learning—after all, sharing ideas over traditional Arabic coffee is as important to our success as blueprint reviews. And yes, those spontaneous team barbecues in the Liwa desert? They’re very much real.

What You’ll Be Doing

Responsibilities will depend somewhat on the specific role, but here’s a glimpse into what your days could look like:

  • Overseeing site operations to ensure projects move seamlessly from planning to execution (and, importantly, on schedule)
  • Coordinating between architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep everyone aligned and informed
  • Reviewing construction drawings and specifications, quickly spotting where on-the-ground tweaks are needed
  • Leading, mentoring, and motivating site teams—sometimes managing 20 or more skilled workers at once
  • Conducting routine site inspections for safety, quality control, and progress reporting (clipboard in one hand, coffee in the other)
  • Troubleshooting issues as they arise; thinking on your feet when plans change (as they do!)
  • Regularly updating project stakeholders—clear, honest communication is key here
  • Ensuring compliance with UAE construction standards and local municipality requirements at every step

What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves

  • Relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field
  • Minimum 3–6 years’ experience in construction projects (UAE experience strongly preferred)
  • Solid understanding of site operations, safety regulations, and local construction standards
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills—whether you’re collaborating or leading by example
  • Comfortable with project management tools and construction software (yes, we love our digital checklists)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Previous experience working in or around Liwa, Western Region, or similar environments
  • Proficiency in both English and Arabic
  • UAE driving license
  • Immediate availability for joining

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Competitive, industry-aligned salary packages
  • Robust medical insurance coverage for you (and your family, if that matters to you)
  • Immediate onboarding—your expertise is needed yesterday!
  • Opportunity to work on landmark projects that shape the future of Abu Dhabi
  • Supportive team culture where sharing knowledge and learning from others is the norm
  • Personal growth through exposure to diverse projects and innovative construction methods
  • Occasional team outings, from construction expos to desert get-togethers—you’ll feel right at home

At Al Mafraq, we know that building a rewarding career goes hand-in-hand with building great things for our community. If you’re looking for a place where you can truly make your mark, this could be it.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Can you walk us through your approach to overseeing daily site operations on a large construction project, especially when schedules get tight or plans shift unexpectedly?
  • How do you ensure compliance with UAE construction standards and local municipality requirements throughout a project’s lifecycle?
  • Describe a time when you had to coordinate across multiple stakeholders, like architects, subcontractors, and suppliers. How did you keep communication clear and alignment strong?
  • What methods do you use to review construction drawings and specifications to proactively identify potential on-site challenges or changes?
  • Give an example of a situation where you led and motivated a team of 20 or more skilled workers—what techniques helped you keep morale and productivity high?
  • Which construction software or project management tools are you most comfortable with, and how have they made your work more efficient?
  • Tell us about a time you encountered a major issue or safety concern on site. How did you handle it, and what was the outcome?
  • How have you adapted your management style to work effectively with teams from different cultural or language backgrounds, especially in UAE contexts?
  • Imagine you receive conflicting feedback from an architect and a subcontractor about a design change. How would you approach resolving their concerns while keeping the project on track?
  • What strategies do you use to deliver routine progress updates to stakeholders who might not be familiar with technical construction details?
  • Have you ever worked in the Liwa region or similar environments? If so, how did you adapt to the unique logistical and climatic challenges these locations present?
  • How do you balance practical, hands-on problem-solving with longer-term project planning in your daily work?
  • What drew you to Al Mafraq’s team culture of collaboration and ongoing learning, and how do you see yourself contributing to it?
  • The construction industry can be intense—how do you stay resilient and keep a sense of camaraderie and positivity among your team, even during tough phases?

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

For mid-level construction professionals such as Construction Managers, Project Engineers, and Site Engineers with 3–6 years of UAE experience, you should expect a monthly salary in the range of 10,000 to 20,000 AED, depending on the specific role and your qualifications. Similar positions in Abu Dhabi often offer packages within this range, especially when factoring in project scale, responsibilities, and local experience. Aim for the higher end if you have strong leadership skills, relevant certifications, and prior experience managing sizeable site teams or complex projects.
