About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Ever pictured yourself working somewhere the sea breeze is part of your daily routine? We’re looking for a hands-on, all-rounder Guard to join our team at a marine rest site on Shuwayhat Island in the Al Dhafra area. This isn’t your typical security gig — it’s a unique role where you’ll protect the premises while also keeping things running smoothly, from fixing a loose wire to planting a few flowers. If you thrive in a peaceful, close-knit environment (and don’t mind the sound of waves in the background), you might just be the person we’re searching for.
About the Company
Our marine rest is a small but vital haven for those working on or passing through Shuwayhat Island. We pride ourselves on maintaining a tranquil, well-kept space where everyone feels safe and welcome. The team here isn’t huge, but that’s what makes us more like family — you’ll get to know everyone by name, and your input will truly make a difference. We value resourcefulness, honesty, and a willingness to pitch in, whether that means fixing a broken door or joining in for a group meal after a long day.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Overseeing the security of the marine rest and its surroundings — keeping watch, reporting any issues, and ensuring peace of mind for all visitors and staff
- Taking on minor repairs and maintenance, including electrical fixes, plumbing adjustments, and basic air conditioning troubleshooting
- Handling pipefitting, iron welding, and ceramic installation as needed — if something breaks or needs an upgrade, you’re the go-to
- Painting and dyeing surfaces to keep everything looking fresh and welcoming
- Tending to small gardening or agricultural tasks — watering plants, trimming, maybe even growing some herbs
- Keeping common areas clean and organized, inside and out
- Pitching in with cooking simple meals or helping with kitchen duties, especially during busy periods
- Responding flexibly to any other tasks assigned by the team or management — every day brings something new
- Maintaining a friendly, approachable presence for visitors and colleagues alike
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Under 35 years old
- Good general knowledge (and hands-on experience) in maintenance trades: electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, welding, ceramics, painting, gardening, cleaning, and cooking
- Physically fit and able to handle a variety of manual tasks
- Proactive attitude — you notice things that need fixing and get them done
- Willingness to live and work on Shuwayhat Island, sometimes in a somewhat remote setting
- Basic communication skills (Arabic or English)
Nice-to-Haves:
- Previous experience in a similar multi-skilled or caretaker/guard role
- Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
- Any certifications in maintenance, safety, or hospitality
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Peaceful island setting with the sea just steps away
- Accommodation and meals provided on site
- Supportive, down-to-earth team where everyone helps out
- Opportunity to learn new skills and take real ownership of your work
- Job security — as long as you’re reliable and hardworking, you’re part of the family
- Flexible, varied workdays (no two are ever quite the same!)
- Room for personal growth and learning, both on the job and through informal team sharing
If you’re looking for a role where your skills are valued, your days are varied, and you can make a visible impact, this could be the perfect fit. Come join us and help keep our marine rest a safe, welcoming oasis on Shuwayhat Island.
