About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Do you have a gentle touch and a knack for making little ones feel safe and seen? We’re looking for a full-time Nanny to become a cherished part of our family’s daily life, caring for our 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son in a home that values warmth and genuine connection. If you thrive in creating joyful, structured days—and appreciate the unique quirks of early childhood—this might be the role that lets you shine.

About the Family

Welcome to our household, where laughter is encouraged and new routines keep things pleasantly predictable. We’re a family who believes in kindness, gentle guidance, and fostering curiosity—whether it’s through a midday story session or exploring the backyard garden. Our home is calm (well, as calm as life with two little ones can be!) and truly family-oriented. We know how important it is to feel comfortable where you work; here, open communication and mutual respect are the norm, not the exception. Plus, our fridge is almost always stocked with fresh fruit for snack time—and grown-ups sneak a few, too.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Creating a safe, loving, and stimulating environment for both children throughout the day
  • Organizing and guiding age-appropriate activities—think coloring, building blocks, and maybe a spontaneous dance party
  • Supporting healthy routines, including meal prep, nap times, and gentle reminders to tidy up toys
  • Keeping an eye on the kids’ wellbeing, noticing their moods, energy, and development
  • Communicating with parents about the day’s events, little victories, and any concerns
  • Light housekeeping related to the children (tidying play areas, washing bottles, prepping snacks)
  • If you have young children of your own, bringing them along (as long as they're calm or a similar age)

What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves

  • Warmth, patience, and genuine enjoyment of young children—our kids notice these things right away!
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to manage a set schedule (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Saturday off, and Fridays until 1:30 PM)
  • Ability to keep the home environment clean, organized, and child-friendly
  • Responsiveness and good judgment—knowing when to encourage, when to comfort, and when to call a parent
  • Working knowledge of Arabic (preferred), to help the children feel at home with their first language

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience balancing care for more than one child, especially if ages are close
  • First aid or CPR training
  • Willingness to be a gentle presence during the occasional moment of sibling squabbles

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Supportive, respectful parents who value your expertise and trust your instincts
  • The option to bring your own children (as long as they’re calm or a similar age)
  • Stable, generous hours with reliable time off every Saturday and early finish on Fridays
  • A calm environment with clear routines, so you can focus on what you do best
  • Openness to feedback and collaboration—your voice matters here
  • Plenty of tea, coffee, and good conversation available when you need it

We’re committed to making this a rewarding, comfortable role. If you’re hoping for a long-term connection in a caring family setting, we can’t wait to meet you.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Can you share some of your favorite activities for engaging children ages 2–4, and describe how you adjust those activities to fit their developmental stages?
  • How do you approach setting and maintaining routines for young children, particularly around meals, playtime, and naps?
  • Tell us about a time you had to respond quickly and calmly to an unexpected situation while caring for kids. What did you do, and what was the outcome?
  • What strategies do you use to encourage sharing and gentle play between siblings, especially during moments of conflict or rivalry?
  • Our family prioritizes communication—how do you typically keep parents updated about their children’s daily experiences, moods, and milestones?
  • Have you ever managed light housekeeping tasks alongside childcare responsibilities? How do you stay organized and ensure nothing falls through the cracks?
  • We value warmth and patience. Can you describe a moment when your calm demeanor helped a child feel comforted or safe?
  • This role involves helping the children build a connection with their first language, Arabic. How confident are you in supporting children’s language development, and do you have any experience incorporating language learning into daily routines?
  • If you bring your own child to work, how do you balance their needs with those of the children you’re caring for, and what boundaries or routines help you manage both?
  • How do you practice gentle guidance and discipline, especially when faced with challenging toddler behavior?
  • Can you give an example of a time you saw a change in a child’s behavior or mood and how you communicated that with their parents?
  • What qualities do you think are most important for creating a calm, welcoming family environment—and how do you contribute to that culture?
  • Our home emphasizes openness and respect. How do you handle feedback or suggestions from parents, and how do you communicate your own needs or concerns?
  • What attracts you to a long-term nanny position with a close-knit family, and what are you hoping for in a family environment?
