About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Ever pictured yourself as the front-facing heart of a busy creative workshop? We’re on the lookout for a Receptionist who brings warmth, organization, and a genuine love for helping people to our tailoring and embroidery shop. In this role, you’ll be so much more than a greeter—you’ll be the vital link between customers and our talented team, making sure everyone feels welcome and every order runs seamlessly. If you enjoy stylish surroundings, fast-paced days, and being part of the fabric that holds a business together, this could be just the spot for you.
About Us
Nestled in the heart of the community, our shop is a hub for bespoke tailoring and beautiful embroidery that stands the test of time (and trends). Family-run and closely-knit, we thrive on personal touches—think handwritten thank-yous in every delivery and laughter in the break room. Our small team values good communication, a can-do spirit, and the kind of attention to detail that turns a first visit into a loyal customer. Friday afternoons sometimes come with surprise treats (our head tailor is convinced pastries boost productivity), and we cheer each other on through even the trickiest hem jobs.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Warmly welcome customers as they arrive, offering genuine help and info on our services.
- Collect and clarify order details, ensuring customers feel understood (and excited!) about their choices.
- Issue invoices accurately, process payments, and double-check order forms for completeness.
- Track customer orders — from initial measurements to the final fitting — and keep everyone updated with friendly reminders.
- Liaise with the tailors to monitor order progress and flag any delays or adjustments early.
- Stay organized with paperwork, service logs, and digital records (we’re not fully paperless yet, but getting there).
- Guide customers through fabric options, embellishments, and basic pricing questions with confidence.
- (Bonus) Step in to take basic measurements if the shop gets busy—experience here is a huge plus, but we’ll train the right person.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Experience in a receptionist, administrative, or front-of-house role (any shop, boutique, or creative studio a major bonus)
- Clear communication skills, both in-person and on the phone
- An eye for details—matching order forms to garments is second nature to you
- Warm, professional demeanor—people feel instantly comfortable around you
- Basic comfort with invoicing and simple order tracking systems
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with tailoring, textiles, or fashion retail (even if it’s just a personal interest)
- Experience in taking garment measurements
- A creative streak or appreciation for handmade craft
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.
