About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Have a knack for spotting risks before they become problems? As a Safety Officer in our construction team based in the heart of Business Bay, you’ll play a crucial part in keeping our sites safe and our projects on track. This is a hands-on role—perfect for those who like to be out on-site where the action is, not behind a desk all day. If you’re passionate about protecting people and making a real difference in one of the UAE’s most dynamic construction hubs, this could be your next move.

About the Company

We’re a well-established construction group steadily making our mark across Dubai’s iconic skyline. Our team is a lively mix of seasoned project managers, innovative engineers, and on-the-ground crews who aren’t afraid to get their boots muddy. We're proud of our safety record, and looking to improve it even further as we take on new projects. You’ll notice right away—collaboration isn’t just a buzzword here; it’s how we work, whether we’re troubleshooting on-site or sharing a laugh over Friday lunches.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and assess hazards, implementing corrective actions where needed.
  • Develop and deliver toolbox talks and safety training sessions tailored to daily site risks.
  • Ensure all site workers comply with company safety policies, UAE labor laws, and industry standards.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, document findings, and share lessons learned so we can do better next time.
  • Liaise with site management, engineers, and workers to maintain open lines of safety communication.
  • Maintain accurate safety logs, records, and KPI tracking for all ongoing projects.
  • Stay updated on new safety protocols and adapt them to our specific site needs.
  • Foster a culture where safety is second nature—because we know our greatest resource is our people.

What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves

  • Prior experience (2+ years) as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
  • Solid knowledge of UAE safety codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with site documentation, incident reporting, and risk assessment methods.
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)—Arabic is a plus.
  • Ability to think on your feet and stay calm in urgent situations.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Business Bay, with flexible hours as project needs shift.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Formal safety certifications (such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
  • Experience with high-rise construction or large-scale developments.
  • Comfort delivering training to multicultural crews.

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Competitive salary packages, reviewed regularly as the company grows.
  • Comprehensive health insurance and site-specific safety gear provided.
  • Opportunities for professional development—grow your expertise with us.
  • Friendly, supportive team culture where your safety insights will be valued.
  • Central Business Bay location, easy to reach by metro or car.
  • Regular team events and recognition for initiative and commitment.

We believe keeping our sites safe is a shared responsibility—and you’ll never feel like just a cog in the wheel here. If you want your work to truly matter, you’ll fit right in.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Can you walk us through your typical process for conducting a site safety inspection on an active construction site?
  • How do you ensure that all workers—including subcontractors and temporary staff—are fully aware of and compliant with both company and UAE regulatory safety requirements?
  • Tell us about a time when you identified a potential hazard on site. What steps did you take to address it, and what was the outcome?
  • What’s your experience with maintaining incident logs and tracking safety KPIs? Can you describe the tools or systems you’ve used in previous roles?
  • How do you tailor safety training sessions or toolbox talks to fit the daily realities and risks of a fast-paced site like ours?
  • Describe your approach to investigating workplace incidents or near-misses. How do you ensure lessons learned are communicated to the rest of the team?
  • Have you ever had to handle resistance when implementing new safety measures on site? How did you get buy-in from the team?
  • In situations where there’s an urgent safety concern, how do you balance calm decision-making with the need to act quickly?
  • How do you stay up to date on new safety protocols, and how have you adapted or introduced these to construction sites you’ve worked on?
  • We work with a multicultural crew from different backgrounds. What strategies do you use to ensure clear communication and understanding on safety matters?
  • Can you share an example of how you’ve contributed to creating a safety-first culture within a construction team?
  • What motivates you to work in a hands-on, site-based safety role rather than a more office-focused environment?
  • Our team values both expertise and a sense of humor. How do you build strong working relationships with colleagues from varied roles and backgrounds?
  • Describe a team event or initiative in a previous job that helped strengthen a positive safety culture. What was your role in it?
