About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Ever wondered what it takes to bring ambitious residential projects to life in one of the world's fastest-growing cities? As a Draftsman with a keen eye for detail and a knack for navigating UAE regulations, you could be the missing link in our dynamic project teams. We're sourcing a new team member who doesn't just “know the ropes” — but actually helped draw them. If you thrive on transforming architectural visions into precise technical plans and enjoy the challenge of making sure every line meets Dubai’s stringent standards, this could be your next big move.

About the Company

Nestled right at the heart of the UAE’s thriving construction scene, our contracting firm has carved out a reputation for quality, dependability, and a touch of creative flair — especially in villa and mid-rise residential projects. We’re proud of our collaborative approach: draftsmen regularly swap insights with engineers and site managers (and, truth be told, often compete for the best snacks during break time). Our team combines sharp technical acumen with a readiness to roll up their sleeves and face each new project with curiosity. Growth here isn’t just about building taller — it’s about learning, sharing, and finding smarter solutions together.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Creating detailed architectural and structural drawings for villa and residential building projects (up to G+4 levels), ensuring complete alignment with project requirements.
  • Translating conceptual sketches and client briefs into precise 2D and 3D plans — clarity and accuracy are your calling cards.
  • Adapting and revising drawings based on feedback from architects, engineers, authorities, or site conditions.
  • Preparing, organizing, and submitting drawings that comply with Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, and DEWA regulations.
  • Coordinating closely with project managers and site supervisors to ensure construction drawings reflect the latest revisions and on-site realities.
  • Staying up-to-date with regulatory changes, sharing best practices with colleagues, and sometimes helping sort out those tricky code questions during team huddles.
  • Double-checking all outputs for accuracy — because you know one detail can make all the difference.

What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves:

  • 5–7 years of drafting experience in the UAE, with a strong record on Dubai-based projects.
  • Deep understanding of Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, and DEWA authority requirements as they apply to villa and G+4 residential buildings.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (and perhaps a secret stash of keyboard shortcuts).
  • Solid grasp of architectural and structural drawing standards.
  • Strong communication skills — you can explain technical details clearly to colleagues from any background.
  • A proactive and organized work style — deadlines and details matter to you.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with Revit, SketchUp, or other advanced design software.
  • Hands-on involvement in approval processes with Dubai authorities.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design principles in residential projects.

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Competitive market-based salary, paid on time — always.
  • Supportive team culture: collaboration is valued, and great ideas come from every desk.
  • Exposure to some of the most sought-after villa and mid-rise projects in the region.
  • Continuous learning — between regulatory updates and new software trials, you’ll never be bored.
  • Convenient office location with plenty of nearby amenities (coffee lovers, rejoice).
  • Opportunities for professional development and future growth within a recognized contracting brand.

Here, your technical know-how isn’t just valued — it’s essential to building the city’s next great homes, one drawing at a time. If you’re ready to see your work become reality under Dubai’s skyline, we’d love to connect.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Can you walk us through how you ensure your architectural and structural drawings meet the specific requirements of both the Dubai Municipality and Civil Defense authorities?
  • How do you typically handle last-minute changes or feedback from site supervisors after you’ve already completed a set of construction drawings?
  • Describe your process for turning conceptual sketches or a client’s vision into clear, buildable 2D and 3D plans.
  • What’s your experience with submitting drawings for DEWA approval, and are there any common pitfalls you watch out for in your documentation?
  • How do you keep yourself updated on regulatory changes in Dubai, and can you share an example where this knowledge impacted a project?
  • Which advanced features or keyboard shortcuts in AutoCAD do you find most valuable for saving time or ensuring accuracy in your drafting work?
  • Tell us about a time you had to resolve a technical disagreement with an engineer or architect regarding a project detail. How did you handle it?
  • When a project’s schedule becomes particularly tight, how do you prioritize your work to ensure both accuracy and timeliness?
  • How do you go about double-checking your outputs for accuracy before passing them on for review or submission?
  • Describe an experience where your proactive approach prevented a costly or time-consuming mistake in a residential project.
  • In our team, draftsmen frequently share tips and best practices. How do you like to contribute to knowledge sharing or help colleagues stay sharp?
  • Our company thrives on a collaborative environment. How do you maintain clear, constructive communication with people from diverse professional backgrounds?
  • Have you had a chance to incorporate sustainable design principles or materials into any of your previous projects? What role did you play?
  • What excites you most about working on villa and mid-rise projects in Dubai, and how do you see your skills contributing to our team’s continuous growth?

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

For a Draftsman with 5–7 years of experience and strong expertise in Dubai’s regulatory landscape, you should expect a monthly salary in the range of 6,000 to 9,000 AED. Specialized knowledge of authority approval processes and advanced CAD skills can often command salaries on the higher end, especially in established contracting firms known for quality residential projects. Negotiating within this range is reasonable, considering the responsibilities and industry standards in Dubai.
