About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Elevator Sales Engineer — Abu Dhabi

Ever tried to sell something people only think about when it breaks? Elevators are a little like that — invisible until they're not, and absolutely essential every single day. We're looking for a Sales Engineer who can walk into a consultant's office, a contractor's site trailer, or a developer's boardroom and make them see why our elevators belong in their next tower. If you've got a nose for new business and a technical mind that can talk shop without drowning people in jargon, this one's worth a closer look.

About the Company

We're an established elevator company with a strong regional footprint across the Gulf, and we've built our reputation the slow way — one reliable installation, one on-time service call, one happy consultant at a time. The Abu Dhabi market is heating up again, with new towers, mixed-use developments, and retrofit projects lining up on the horizon, and we need someone on the ground who can turn that pipeline into signed contracts.

The team here is small enough that your wins are visible and big enough that you've got real backing — engineering support, a service crew that actually shows up, and management that answers the phone. We're not a faceless multinational, and we don't pretend to be.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Hunt down new business across Abu Dhabi — developers, contractors, consultants, facility managers, and anyone else specifying or buying vertical transportation.
  • Build and work a real pipeline: cold calls, site visits, referrals, tender lists, and the occasional networking event where you're the only elevator person in the room.
  • Read drawings and specs well enough to talk intelligently with consultants, then translate their requirements into a competitive, technically sound proposal.
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate terms, and close — not just hand things off and hope someone else finishes the job.
  • Keep relationships warm after the sale, because in this market the next project often comes from the last client.
  • Feed market intelligence back to the team — what competitors are pricing, what specs are shifting, where the next wave of projects is coming from.

What You'll Bring

Must-haves:

  • Proven outdoor or field sales experience — you're comfortable spending your day in the car, on site, and in front of decision-makers, not behind a desk.
  • Strong lead generation, negotiation, and closing skills. You can open a door and you can shut a deal.
  • A technical bent — enough to understand elevator systems, or at least the confidence to learn them fast.
  • Valid UAE driving licence and the willingness to be out and about across Abu Dhabi.
  • Solid communication in English; Arabic is a real plus when you're building trust with local clients.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Prior experience in elevator, technical, or service sales — if you've sold lifts, HVAC, fire systems, or similar building equipment, you'll hit the ground running.
  • An existing network among Abu Dhabi consultants and contractors.
  • Familiarity with tender processes and reading technical specifications.

Not sure you tick every box? We'd still love to hear from you — the right attitude and hunger often beat a perfect CV.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Competitive salary plus commission — your effort shows up in your paycheck, not just your review.
  • Real autonomy — you own your territory and your clients, with support when you need it and space when you don't.
  • Growth on the table — as the Abu Dhabi operation expands, so do the opportunities for the people who built it.
  • A team that backs you up — engineering, service, and management who actually want you to win.
  • The satisfaction of a tangible product — you can point at a skyline and say, "I put that elevator there."

If you're the kind of salesperson who likes a challenge with a bit of technical meat on it, and you'd rather build something than coast, we'd genuinely enjoy meeting you.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Walk me through how you'd approach building a pipeline in Abu Dhabi from scratch. Where do you start, and who are the first five people you'd try to get in front of?
  • How comfortable are you reading architectural drawings and mechanical specs? Tell me about a time you had to interpret a consultant's requirements and turn them into a proposal.
  • We sell a product most people ignore until it breaks. How would you pitch an elevator system to a developer who's already got three quotes on the table and sees them all as basically the same?
  • Describe your experience with tender processes. What's your approach when you're bidding against incumbents who already have a relationship with the client?
  • Give me an example of a deal you lost. What happened, and what did you change about your approach afterward?
  • Elevator systems have a lot of moving parts — literally and technically. How would you get up to speed on our product range quickly enough to hold your own with an engineer?
  • Tell me about a time you had to negotiate with a client who was pushing hard on price. How did you protect your margin without walking away?
  • This role is mostly out of the office — site visits, cold calls, meetings across the emirate. How do you structure your week to stay productive when nobody's watching?
  • After a project is delivered, how do you keep the relationship alive? Can you share an example where a past client sent you new business?
  • What's your read on the Abu Dhabi construction market right now? Where do you think the next wave of projects is coming from?
  • Describe a situation where you had to work closely with an engineering or service team to win or keep a client. How did that go?
  • Arabic is a plus here, especially with local clients and government-linked developers. How would you handle a meeting where the decision-maker prefers to negotiate in Arabic?
  • What draws you to a smaller, regional company over a big multinational? Be honest —

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

For a field sales role like this in Abu Dhabi, similar technical sales positions in the building systems and construction equipment space typically pay between 8,000 and 15,000 AED per month, depending on your experience and how strong your existing network is. If you've already sold elevators, HVAC, or fire systems and you bring solid consultant and contractor contacts, you should be pushing toward the upper end of that range, with commission on top adding another meaningful layer to your total earnings. Entry into this role without direct industry experience might land closer to 7,000–10,000 AED, but don't undersell yourself if you can demonstrate a track record of closing deals, because companies in this market pay for proven hunters.
