About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Ever wished you could see your cost expertise shape city skylines? As our new Senior Estimator, you’ll be entrusted with the numbers that make bold visions become successful, real-world projects. Whether you’re passionate about precise take-offs or love advising on the best-value solutions, this is your invitation to bring expertise and a strategic mindset to one of Dubai’s most ambitious stone contracting teams. We’re not looking for someone to just crunch numbers—but rather, a partner who knows how thoughtful estimation can make or break a build.

About the Company

We’re a specialist contracting firm right in the heart of Business Bay. Our reputation? Delivering intricate stonework on time and with standards that others aspire to. Here, collaboration isn’t just a buzzword—every project review feels like a great team debate, and Friday demo days? Those get competitive (in the best possible way). We’re a growing group of dedicated engineers, estimators, and site managers who genuinely care about getting it right, learning from each job, and celebrating a job well done. Bring your experience, and you’ll be part of a talented crew always striving for the next level of excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the end-to-end estimation process for complex stone contracting projects, from initial tender to final submission
  • Coordinating with project managers, architects, and suppliers to secure accurate pricing and reduce ambiguity
  • Conducting detailed quantity take-offs based on drawings, specifications, and on-site information
  • Preparing and presenting cost analysis reports, value engineering options, and alternative solutions for client review
  • Maintaining and refining our database of rates, suppliers, and sub-contractors
  • Participating in tender meetings, clarifying questions, and representing the team with confidence
  • Mentoring junior estimators and sharing your knowledge (if you love seeing others learn, so do we)
  • Spotting commercial risks and flagging them early—but also proposing creative strategies to overcome them
  • Always striving to improve the process; your suggestions will never fall on deaf ears

What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves:

  • At least 5 years of hands-on estimation experience in stone contracting, civil works, or a closely related field
  • B.Tech or Engineering Degree (Civil or relevant discipline preferred)
  • Comfort with estimation software and Excel—accuracy is your middle name
  • Experience with QS practices and solid understanding of market rates/materials
  • Sharp attention to detail and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach
  • Professional communication skills in English (spoken and written)

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Recognized Quantity Surveying certification (CIOB, RICS, AIQS, or similar—these will make you stand out)
  • Familiarity with Dubai/UAE construction standards and local supplier networks
  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Beautifully located office in Business Bay—easy access, a great view, and plenty of cafés nearby
  • Supportive, tight-knit team that’s genuinely proud of their work and quick to offer a helping hand
  • Competitive salary plus annual performance incentives
  • Flexible, project-led work culture; you’ll have space to own your process and make your mark
  • Ongoing opportunities for professional development, including support for certifications
  • Regular team events (from weekly lunches to occasional cricket matches) that keep things friendly and lively

We know what it takes to deliver challenging projects—and how far the right team can go when everyone’s ideas and input are truly valued. If you’re ready to make an impact (and keep learning every step of the way), you’ll find yourself right at home here.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Walk us through how you would approach estimating a high-value, intricate stone façade project from tender to submission—what are your key milestones and checkpoints?
  • How do you manage quantity take-offs when presented with incomplete or ambiguous drawings? Can you share an example of how you reduced risk in such a situation?
  • Describe your experience with estimation software and Excel. Are there any tools or templates you've built or improved that enhanced accuracy or efficiency?
  • When updating the rates database, what sources do you rely on to benchmark stone, labor, or subcontractor costs—especially in the Dubai market?
  • Have you ever identified a commercial risk during a bid process that others missed? How did you handle it, and what was the outcome?
  • Tell us about a time you presented value engineering options to a client or design team. How did you balance cost, quality, and design intent?
  • Can you give an example of when you coordinated with different project stakeholders to clarify scope or pricing? What strategies did you use to keep communication clear and constructive?
  • Our projects often push the envelope—describe a challenging estimation assignment and how you approached creative problem-solving to deliver a successful bid.
  • How do you stay organized and focused when handling multiple tenders or urgent requests at the same time?
  • Mentoring junior estimators is part of this role. Can you share your approach to teaching or guiding less experienced team members?
  • In a team review or debate, how do you handle opposing viewpoints or critical feedback about your cost proposals?
  • Our team celebrates achievements and prioritizes learning from setbacks. How do you contribute to creating a positive, growth-focused team environment?
  • What aspects of a company’s culture or work style help you do your best work?
  • Why are you interested in joining a specialist stone contracting team in Dubai, and what would make you excited to come to work with us each day?

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

You should expect a salary of at least 15,000 to 22,000 AED per month for a senior estimator role in specialist contracting within Dubai, especially given the focus on complex stonework and the requirement for hands-on leadership. Similar positions in the UAE construction sector often offer this range, with further potential for performance-based incentives depending on the scale and complexity of projects. If you bring additional certifications like RICS or notable local expertise, you may be able to negotiate towards the higher end of this spectrum.
