About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Are you the kind of engineer who loves turning sketches into landmarks? If so, this Civil (Structural) Engineer role at our consultant office in Madinat Al Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, might be exactly what you’re looking for. Here, you won’t just crunch numbers or draft plans — you’ll bring real-world projects to life, from foundation to finishing touch. Whether you’re passionate about innovative structural solutions or looking to deepen your expertise in a hands-on environment, this position offers a rare blend of technical challenge and creative impact.

About the Company

We’re a boutique consulting office based right at the heart of Abu Dhabi’s up-and-coming Madinat Al Riyadh district — an area buzzing with development and fresh opportunity. Our tight-knit team of engineers and designers believes the best results come from collaboration, curious minds, and a bit of daily humor (our project war stories are legendary over coffee breaks). We value initiative, support professional growth, and trust each team member to shape the way we work, not just the projects we tackle. Fridays? That’s when we gather for team demos and celebrate milestones, big and small.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Crunch structural calculations and ensure each beam and column stands up to scrutiny — and code.
  • Craft detailed, precise drawings that bring architects’ visions and engineers’ calculations together seamlessly.
  • Prepare detailed BOQs (Bills of Quantities) and own the tender submission process from start to finish.
  • Scout and select materials and suppliers, keeping your finger firmly on the pulse of market trends and new technologies.
  • Spend time onsite, supervising contractor work; you’ll conduct inspections and ensure everything lines up with high standards and specs — no guesswork allowed.
  • Coordinate closely with architects, MEP engineers, and clients to resolve challenges before they become problems.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural focus) or related field; relevant professional registration is a plus.
  • 3+ years of solid experience in structural design and site supervision, preferably within the UAE or GCC region.
  • Proficient with structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, AutoCAD) — you know your way around the latest tools.
  • A practical understanding of materials, local building codes, and contemporary construction practices.
  • Proven ability to prepare BOQs, tender documents, and manage the critical details in fast-paced environments.
  • Clear communication skills — you can explain technical stuff simply, both on paper and on-site.
  • Keen attention to detail, a collaborative spirit, and the flexibility to jump between desk and site as needed.

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Flexible working hours and a strong team-first culture — we care about the results, not just the clock.
  • Hands-on exposure to diverse projects throughout the growing Madinat Al Riyadh district.
  • Opportunities for professional development, including mentoring and workshops tailored to your interests.
  • Competitive salary, end-of-service benefits, and a social team that celebrates together (think coffee runs, team lunches, and the occasional outing).
  • Supportive management that values your ideas and encourages innovation.

We’re genuinely passionate about the structural footprints we leave and the careers we shape along the way. If you’re eager to build the future — and your own — let’s start the conversation.

  • How do you ensure that your structural designs comply with both local building codes and best construction practices in the UAE or GCC region?
  • Give an example of a time when close collaboration with architects or MEP engineers prevented a larger problem later in the project. What was your role in driving that communication?
  • When under tight deadlines, how do you prioritize between drafting structural details, supervising site works, and preparing documentation?
  • Can you share a situation where you had to explain a complex structural engineering concept to a non-technical stakeholder or client? How did you approach it?
  • Our team values a sense of humor and camaraderie—how do you contribute to a positive work environment, especially during stressful project phases?
  • The company encourages taking initiative and sharing ideas. Can you recall a time when you proposed a new approach or improvement on a project? What did you learn?
  • How comfortable are you working in a setting where you’re shifting frequently between desk-based design work and hands-on site supervision? What do you enjoy about this variety?
  • In your view, what makes for truly effective teamwork among engineers, designers, and project managers on complex builds?
  • What excites you most about working in a dynamic, up-and-coming district like Madinat Al Riyadh, and how do you think you can

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

Given the responsibilities and required experience, civil (structural) engineers with 3+ years of experience in the UAE typically earn between 9,000 and 14,000 AED per month, depending on the complexity of projects and the level of site involvement. For a consulting office in Abu Dhabi, you should expect a salary in this range, with potential room for negotiation if you bring strong specialization in UAE codes or advanced software skills.
