About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Ever find yourself spotting potential hazards before anyone else, or naturally thinking two steps ahead when it comes to keeping people safe? As our new Safety Officer, you’ll have the chance to turn those instincts into serious impact. This isn’t just about ticking regulatory boxes — it’s about leading a safety-first culture people genuinely trust. With safety regulations evolving and workplaces always changing, your expertise will help keep our team protected and our standards ahead of the curve.
About the Company
We’re a diverse, close-knit organization where everyone’s voice truly counts — especially when it comes to safety. Conversations here are open, and ideas for improvement are always welcome, whether they come from a veteran manager or a freshly hired apprentice. While we take our safety commitments seriously, we also know how to celebrate wins (monthly team BBQs are a thing around here). At our core, we believe that everyone works better when they feel safe and empowered.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Championing a safety-first mindset across the team, from warehouse workers to office staff.
- Conducting regular site inspections to proactively identify and resolve hazards — you’ll be the eyes everyone trusts.
- Leading engaging safety trainings and toolbox talks that actually get people listening, not just nodding.
- Investigating incidents and near-misses thoroughly, turning each one into a learning opportunity.
- Keeping our safety documentation up-to-date and clear, so it’s easy for anyone to follow.
- Liaising with regulatory bodies (think OSHA and local agencies) to ensure rock-solid compliance and smooth audits.
- Collaborating with managers to roll out new safety policies or update existing ones as our needs evolve.
- Tracking and analyzing safety data to spot trends and recommend smarter practices.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer (ideally 2+ years) in an industrial or commercial environment.
- Up-to-date knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and the confidence to apply them in real situations.
- Strong risk assessment skills — you know how to spot problems before they escalate.
- Clear, approachable communication style (both written and verbal).
- Ability to lead trainings and make safety feel relevant, not just routine.
- A detail-oriented approach — processes matter, and you don’t let things slip through the cracks.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, or similar).
- Experience with safety management software or digital reporting tools.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- A knack for turning safety data into actionable insights.
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Competitive salary, plus performance-based bonuses.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance — because your wellbeing is our priority too.
- Flexible working arrangements (hybrid options for eligible roles).
- Ongoing training and professional development — we’re genuinely invested in your growth.
- Supportive team that values new ideas and encourages fresh thinking about safety.
- Company gatherings, recognition programs, and the occasional friendly competition (who says safety can’t be fun?).
At the end of the day, we’re proud of our safety record, but even prouder of how we work together to keep it that way. If building a safer workplace sounds like a mission you can get behind, we’re excited to meet you.
