About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction

Looking for your next role in Dubai’s bustling construction scene? Mimar Building Contracting L.C. is seeking driven individuals ready to leave their mark on the city’s ever-evolving skyline. Whether you’re excited by the challenge of tight project timelines or thrive on collaborative problem-solving, this is a chance to build something real — and see the results every time you walk down Al Rigga Street.

About the Company

At Mimar Building Contracting, we’re more than just hard hats and floor plans. Our office—perched above the aroma of Al Sultan Sweets and facing the familiar buzz of Al Rigga—serves as a lively crossroads of fresh ideas, team banter, and determined professionalism. We’ve grown steadily by staying true to our roots: delivering quality, keeping promises, and treating every client like a neighbor. Fridays tend to feature impromptu coffee runs (some swear by the sweets downstairs), and “good enough” is never, well, quite good enough for us.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Oversee daily site operations, ensuring work meets our high standards for safety and quality
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors to keep projects on track — and on budget
  • Review architectural drawings and flag any gaps or challenges before they become headaches
  • Troubleshoot issues on the ground, whether it’s unexpected weather or a sudden materials shortage
  • Report project progress to senior managers, using clear updates (not just spreadsheets)
  • Foster a collaborative site culture, where every team member feels heard, respected, and motivated
  • Walk the site regularly, acting as both mentor and watchdog for best practices
  • Assist with permit applications and compliance documentation as needed

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience on-site in construction (Dubai market a definite plus)
  • Strong organizational skills—you like when things run smoothly, and know how to make that happen
  • Familiarity with construction documents and the language of contractors and consultants
  • Problem-solving mindset — you don’t wait for someone else to fix it
  • UAE residency or transferable visa

Nice-to-haves:

  • Fluency in both English and Arabic
  • Working knowledge of local building codes and safety standards
  • Previous work with mid-sized build & fit-out projects

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Competitive salary and reliable benefits
  • A supportive, tight-knit team — your wins are our wins
  • Centrally located office (hello, Al Rigga!) with easy metro and lunch options
  • Career advancement and project diversity — you won’t be stuck on repeat
  • Open-door management style: your ideas and concerns are always welcome
  • Regular skill-building sessions — and sometimes a celebratory meal when a project wraps!

At Mimar, you’ll help shape not only buildings, but also a positive, growth-oriented company culture. Sound like your sort of place? We hope so.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Can you walk us through a past project where you were responsible for coordinating daily site operations? What were some of the biggest on-site challenges, and how did you address them?
  • How do you typically review and interpret architectural drawings or construction documents to identify potential issues before they impact a project?
  • Dubai’s environment can throw up unique challenges—from supply chain hiccups to sudden weather changes. Can you share an example of a time when you had to quickly troubleshoot a problem on-site?
  • What methods do you use to keep subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors aligned with timeline and budget targets?
  • When reporting project progress to senior managers, how do you ensure your updates are both thorough and easy to understand?
  • Tell us about your familiarity with UAE building codes and safety standards. Have you ever had to guide a team through compliance or permit applications?
  • In situations where communication breaks down among site workers or between contractors, how do you restore effective collaboration?
  • Describe a time you mentored a less-experienced team member on best construction practices. What approach did you take?
  • How do you prioritize and organize multiple site tasks to ensure smooth workflow, especially when facing tight deadlines?
  • What motivates you to maintain high standards of quality and safety on the job, even when under pressure to deliver quickly?
  • Our team values direct communication and open-door management — can you share a time when you voiced an idea or concern that led to a positive outcome?
  • How do you contribute to building a positive, respectful team culture on-site?
  • When transitioning to a new project or client, how do you quickly get up to speed and build trust with new team members?
  • With our fast-paced project mix, how do you balance reliability and adaptability in your day-to-day work?
