About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Ever walked into a restaurant and just felt the energy? That buzz of clinking glasses, the aroma of something delicious hitting the pass, and a team moving in perfect sync to make sure every guest leaves happier than they arrived. That’s the kind of place we’re building here in Rolla, Sharjah. We're on the lookout for a Waiter or Waitress who genuinely enjoys making people’s day — someone who sees service not as a task, but as a craft. If you’ve got a warm smile and a willingness to learn, you might just be the perfect fit for our table.
About the Company
We’re a vibrant, fast-paced restaurant nestled in the heart of Rolla — a spot that’s become a local favorite for both quick bites and leisurely dinners. We pride ourselves on blending authentic flavors with a modern, welcoming vibe. Our team is a mix of seasoned hospitality pros and fresh faces, all bound by one shared belief: every guest deserves to feel like a regular, even on their very first visit. The kitchen hums with energy, the floor buzzes with conversation, and we genuinely look out for one another — because in this business, teamwork makes the dream work (cheesy, but true).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Welcoming guests with a genuine smile and seating them comfortably, whether it’s a busy weekend rush or a quiet weekday lunch.
- Taking orders accurately — and let’s be real, sometimes deciphering that one guest who changes their mind three times. No judgment here.
- Serving food and beverages promptly, ensuring every dish leaves the kitchen looking as good as it tastes.
- Anticipating needs before they’re asked — refilling water, clearing plates, and checking in just at the right moment.
- Handling payments and operating the POS system with confidence (we’ll train you if you’re new to it).
- Keeping your section spotless — because a clean floor and tidy tables set the stage for a great experience.
- Collaborating with the kitchen and bar team to ensure smooth service, even when the tickets start stacking up.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- A positive, can-do attitude that shines through even during the dinner rush.
- Clear communication skills in English (knowing Hindi, Urdu, or Arabic is a definite bonus).
- The ability to stay calm under pressure — think of it as controlled chaos, and you’re the eye of the storm.
- A customer-first mindset; you genuinely enjoy making people feel welcome.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Previous experience in a restaurant or café setting (but honestly, if you’ve got the right energy, we’ll teach you the rest).
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage service etiquette.
- Flexibility with shifts, including weekends and public holidays — that’s just the nature of hospitality.
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you. Passion and personality can’t be taught, but everything else can.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Competitive salary of AED 2,200 – 2,800, depending on experience.
- Visa sponsorship, plus accommodation and transportation provided as per company policy — we’ve got your logistics sorted.
- Meals during shifts — because you shouldn’t work around amazing food on an empty stomach.
- A supportive team culture where your growth matters. Many of our supervisors started right where you’d be starting.
- The chance to sharpen your skills in a lively environment that keeps you on your toes and never boring.
At the end of the day, we’re not just filling a vacancy — we’re adding a new member to our restaurant family. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves, bring your energy, and be part of something genuinely enjoyable, we’d love to meet you.
Common Interview Questions and Tips
To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.
- Walk me through how you’d handle a table of six arriving all at once during a sudden weekend rush, each with different requests and one person clearly getting impatient. What’s your first move, and how do you keep your cool?
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with a guest who was unhappy — maybe the food took too long or something wasn’t to their liking. What did you say, and how did you turn that experience around?
- How do you prioritize when you’ve got three tables flagging you down at the same time, a drink order waiting at the bar, and a plate sitting in the pass that needs to go out hot? Walk me through your thought process.
- Let’s say a regular guest always asks for the same table and a specific drink that isn’t on the menu anymore. How would you handle that with a smile while still being honest about what you can offer?
- What does “anticipating a guest’s needs” actually look like in practice for you? Give me a concrete example from your experience — or if you’re newer to service, how would you go about learning to read a table?
- The kitchen tickets are stacking up, and you know a couple of dishes are going to be delayed. How do you communicate that to your guests without making them feel like they’re being brushed off?
- If you noticed a teammate struggling to keep up with their section during a packed dinner service, what would you do? Would you step in, and how would you go about it without making them feel singled out?
- We’re big on teamwork here — everyone from the dish pit to the bar to the floor is part of one crew. Describe a time you went beyond your own responsibilities to help out a colleague, even when it wasn’t technically your job.
- How do you keep your energy up during a long shift, especially on days when the restaurant is quieter and time seems to
