About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Front and Center: Where the Guest Experience Begins
Ever walked into a restaurant and felt instantly at home — before you'd even seen a menu? That feeling rarely happens by accident. It's usually the work of someone who genuinely enjoys people. We're looking for that someone: an entry-level waitress to join a busy, friendly restaurant in Bathaa, Sharjah. If you're at the start of your hospitality journey and ready to hit the ground running, this could be your first real break in the industry. And yes — we mean immediately. The team is waiting.
About the Restaurant
This isn't a faceless chain. It's a local restaurant in the heart of Bathaa that runs on regulars, word of mouth, and a kitchen that takes pride in what it sends out. The floor team is small, close-knit, and supportive — you'll learn fast because people around you actually want you to succeed. Lunch rushes get loud, evenings get busy, and by the end of a good shift there's usually shared food and a few laughs before everyone heads home.
What You'll Be Doing
- Welcome guests as they arrive and get them seated comfortably — first impressions are everything here.
- Take orders accurately, answer basic questions about the menu, and pass special requests to the kitchen.
- Serve food and drinks promptly, keeping an eye on tables so no one's left waiting.
- Keep your section clean and tidy — tables reset, condiments stocked, floor swept when needed.
- Work as part of the floor team, helping colleagues during peak hours and handing over smoothly at shift end.
- Handle basic billing and coordinate with the cashier or supervisor as required.
What You'll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Young, energetic, and genuinely eager to learn the trade — no prior experience required.
- Ready to join immediately.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work a 9-hour shift with a smile.
- Basic communication skills; English or Hindi/Urdu is a plus.
- Physically comfortable being on your feet for most of the day.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Any previous café or restaurant experience (even a short stint counts).
- Familiarity with Sharjah or the Bathaa area.
Not sure you tick every box? Honestly, if you show up with the right attitude, we'd still love to hear from you.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- Visa provided — fully handled in line with UAE Ministry of Labour laws.
- Accommodation and food covered by the restaurant, so your salary goes further.
- Medical insurance included.
- Uniform provided — one less thing to think about.
- One full day off per week to rest and recharge.
- A real entry point into hospitality, with room to grow if you're willing to put in the work.
It's a straightforward package, and we won't pretend otherwise — but for someone starting out, having your visa, housing, meals, and insurance sorted is a serious head start. You focus on the guests; we'll take care of the rest.
Common Interview Questions and Tips
To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.
- Walk us through how you'd handle a table that's been waiting a while for their food — what do you say to them, and what do you do next?
- A guest asks you about a dish you've never tried and aren't sure about. How do you respond without making them feel unsure about ordering it?
- You're taking an order during a busy lunch rush and realize you've mixed up two tables. What's your move?
- How would you keep track of several tables at once — drink refills, food timing, someone wanting the bill — without letting anything slip?
- What would you do if a customer sent a dish back, saying it wasn't what they ordered, even though you're fairly sure it was?
- Tell us about a time you had to stay positive or keep smiling when you were tired, frustrated, or just not in the mood. What got you through it?
- Imagine it's your first week and you're still learning the menu while the restaurant is packed. How do you cope without slowing the team down?
- Describe a moment when you worked closely with others to get something done under time pressure — at school, at home, anywhere. What was your role?
- If a colleague was struggling during a rush and you had your own tables to look after, how would you decide whether to step in?
- What draws you to restaurant work specifically, rather than other jobs you could have applied for?
- This role means being on your feet for a full 9-hour shift, mostly on the move. How do you feel about that kind of day, and how do you keep your energy up?
- You'll be joining a small, close team that leans on each other. What kind of teammate are you, and what do you need from the people around you to do your best work?
