About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Introduction
Ever wanted to see your craftsmanship stand at the heart of the city's most dynamic exhibitions and events? As a Finishing Carpenter or Painter with our on-site production team, that’s exactly what you’ll do—turning creative ideas into impressive realities, one booth and backdrop at a time. If you thrive on tight timelines, appreciate the harmony between speed and precision, and find satisfaction in the final reveal, this might just be the next chapter in your story.
About the Company
Step behind the scenes of some of the region’s most talked-about exhibitions and live events. We’re a tight-knit, passionate crew who see every project as a new challenge to outdo ourselves—think of us as artisans with an events gene. Our workspace? Always evolving, rarely boring, and driven by a “we’ve got your back” spirit. Morning toolbox huddles, impromptu design chats over lunch, and the shared thrill of the final install—these are just part of our DNA. We take serious pride in our builds, but we never take ourselves too seriously.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Transform design drawings and creative briefs into finished, visually flawless event structures, booths, and displays
- Carry out precise carpentry, assembly, and installation of exhibition elements—sometimes on your own, sometimes as part of a crack team
- Apply high-quality finishes, from paintwork to laminates, ensuring every surface pops under the event lights
- Troubleshoot on-the-fly, making swift adjustments based on last-minute client requests or venue quirks
- Collaborate closely with project managers, designers, and fellow fabricators to ensure a seamless build and strike
- Maintain a tidy and organized work area, respecting both safety regulations and the flow of busy event prep timelines
- Pitch in with loading, unloading, and transport of materials as part of our “all hands on deck” approach
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Demonstrated experience as a finishing carpenter and/or painter in exhibition, event, stage, or set production environments
- Confidence in reading and interpreting build schematics, technical drawings, and finishing specs
- Polished skills in surface prep, color-matching, and the use of both hand and power tools
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines, often adapting to last-minute changes
- Eye for detail—you notice the alignment of panels, the smoothness of edges, the crispness of a paint line
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours (we’re on event time!) and enthusiasm for teamwork
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with specialty finishes, custom carpentry, or unusual exhibition fabrication techniques
- Valid driver’s license (helpful for site work/offsite builds)
- Bonus points if you’re handy with digital fabrication tools or have a flair for scenic painting
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Competitive hourly or project-based pay, always paid on time
- Opportunities for overtime and extra shifts during peak event seasons
- Real-world variety—no two builds or show floors are quite the same
- Supportive crew that respects both hustle and creativity
- Access to top-notch tools, and ongoing training for new techniques
- Occasional snacks, coffee runs, and team breakfasts when the deadlines get tough
- Clear pathways for growth—take on more complex builds or mentor newbies as you develop
You’ll finish each project with a sense of accomplishment (and maybe a few behind-the-scenes stories for your portfolio). If you want your hands—and your ideas—to shape the pulse of live events, we’d love to meet you.
