About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Introduction Paragraph

Ever walked into a restaurant and immediately felt... seen? That first impression isn't magic — it’s the host or hostess. We're on the hunt for a genuinely warm and organized person to become the face of our bustling restaurant in the heart of Deira, Dubai. This isn't just about pointing people to a table; it's about setting the tone for their entire evening. If you thrive on making people feel at ease and can keep a cool head when the Friday rush hits, this could be a fantastic fit for you.

About the Company

We’re a well-loved dining spot in Deira, known for our hearty portions and even heartier hospitality. The team here is a mix of long-timers and fresh faces, but we all share one belief: hospitality isn’t a job, it’s a craft. You won't find a stuffy corporate vibe here. Instead, think of a place where the kitchen staff know your name, the regulars ask for you by name, and the shift briefings are quick, practical, and often end with a laugh. We’re growing, but we haven’t lost that close-knit feel.

What You’ll Be Doing (Responsibilities)

  • Welcome every guest with a genuine smile and a warm greeting the moment they walk through the door — you set the vibe for their whole visit.
  • Manage the seating flow efficiently, balancing walk-ins with reservations so that no one feels forgotten, even when we’re completely packed.
  • Handle the waitlist with grace and good humor; a little patience and a reassuring word go a long way when someone’s hungry.
  • Answer incoming calls for reservations and directions, always leaving the caller with a positive impression of our spot.
  • Coordinate with the service team — you’ll be the bridge between the front door and the floor, making sure servers know when new tables are ready.
  • Keep the entrance and waiting area tidy, from menus stacked neatly to making sure the vibe feels welcoming from the second someone steps in.

What You’ll Bring (Qualifications)

Must-Haves:

  • A naturally friendly and approachable personality — you genuinely enjoy interacting with people, even when it’s busy.
  • Solid English communication skills; Arabic is a definite plus but not essential.
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure — a full restaurant shouldn’t frazzle you.
  • Professional grooming and presentation, as you’ll be the first person guests see.
  • Previous experience in a similar customer-facing role is preferred, but if you’ve got the right attitude, we’re willing to train the right person.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience using reservation systems or POS software.
  • A good knowledge of Deira and the surrounding areas to answer guest questions about parking or local attractions.

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you — a great attitude is harder to teach than a booking system.

Why You’ll Love Working Here (Benefits & Perks)

  • Competitive monthly salary of AED 2,800 – 3,200, depending on your experience.
  • Company-provided visa, accommodation, and transportation — we handle the logistics so you can focus on settling in.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance so you’re covered in case of any health hiccups.
  • Annual leave to go home, recharge, or explore more of the UAE.
  • A supportive team culture where your efforts are actually noticed. We’re not about micromanagement; we trust you to own your role.
  • Opportunities to grow — many of our current supervisors started exactly where you’d be starting.

At the end of the day, this is a role for someone who takes pride in making others feel welcome. If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Walk me through how you'd handle a situation where a group of walk-ins arrives with no reservation, but every table is booked and there's already a 30-minute waitlist. What's your approach to keeping them happy while managing their expectations?

  • Imagine you're in the middle of seating a rush of guests and the phone rings for a reservation. How do you prioritize what needs your attention first without making anyone feel neglected?

  • Tell me about a time you had to deal with an upset or frustrated customer. What did you say or do to turn the experience around, and what was the outcome?

  • How would you go about building rapport with regular guests who come in often? Can you share an example of how you've done that in a previous role?

  • If a server tells you a table isn't ready yet but you've already promised it to a waiting guest, how would you handle that miscommunication on the spot?

  • What does "genuine hospitality" mean to you in practice? How would a guest know they're receiving it from you within the first 30 seconds of walking in?

  • Picture a chaotic Friday night — the waitlist is long, a couple is hovering by the door, and two servers call out your name at once. How do you stay organized and keep your composure in that kind of environment?

  • Have you ever used a reservation system or POS before? If so, which one, and how quickly did you pick it up? If not, how do you usually approach learning new technology on the job?

  • How would you handle a guest who's unhappy about the wait time and starts raising their voice in the lobby, while other guests are watching?

  • This role is very much about being the first and last impression someone has of our restaurant. What do you think makes someone truly memorable in that position — beyond just being polite?

  • Give me an example of a time you went above and beyond for a customer, even when it wasn't strictly
