About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Ever wondered how cities grow, roads find their paths, or new developments spring up in just the right spot? That’s the impact of a skilled Land Surveyor, and we’re looking for someone who thrives on that kind of behind-the-scenes precision. If you’re passionate about transforming bare terrain into blueprints for progress, you might be the exact expert we need on our team.
About the Company
We’re a well-established surveying and engineering firm driven by integrity, innovation, and teamwork. Our projects range from municipal undertakings to commercial developments, and there’s never a dull moment — cross-functional collaboration is our bread and butter. The team here is close-knit and supportive; we don’t just move markers on a map, we celebrate major project wins (and the occasional successful coffee run). Whether you love geeking out over the latest tech or just want to know your work really matters, you’ll find your place here.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out detailed land surveys for a variety of sites — from bustling construction zones to untouched parcels of land.
- Using GPS devices and Total Stations to gather precise data, ensuring every measurement is spot-on.
- Interpreting site plans and design drawings, then transferring those onto the landscape with expert setting out skills.
- Conducting site measurements, collecting and compiling information needed for regulatory or client requirements.
- Preparing clear, thorough survey reports that help the rest of the project team make informed decisions.
- Communicating findings and recommendations effectively — you’ll connect with engineers, contractors, and sometimes even clients, laying out your insights clearly.
- Troubleshooting surveying challenges in real-time (there’s always one), and thinking on your feet to keep site progress smooth.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- At least 6 years of hands-on experience in land surveying — you’ve navigated your share of field challenges.
- Deep familiarity with modern GPS equipment and Total Stations — you know your way around the tools and the tech.
- Proven accuracy in site measurements, setting out, and documentation.
- Solid communication skills; you can translate technical findings for both experts and non-specialists.
- A commitment to getting things right the first time — attention to detail is second nature to you.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or multi-phase development projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- Strong problem-solving instincts and a collaborative mindset.
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Competitive compensation package tied to your experience and the impact you make.
- Opportunities for professional development — we encourage growth, whether through workshops, certifications, or new responsibilities.
- Supportive team culture — questions are welcome, and shared success is the norm.
- Flexible approach to fieldwork and reporting; we trust you to manage your schedule where possible.
- Modern equipment and digital tools — we invest in your ability to do great work.
- Celebrate project milestones with team get-togethers (sometimes with snacks, always with smiles).
We believe surveying is as much about people as it is about points on a map. If you want your work to shape real communities — and your voice to count — you’ll fit right in with us.
