About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Ever pictured yourself bringing blueprints to life across some of Dubai’s most ambitious developments? As an MEP Draftsman at Montreux Electromechanical Works L.C, you’ll do more than just draw lines — you’ll shape spaces, solve technical puzzles, and work at the very heart of how buildings actually come together. Whether you’re obsessed with getting details just right, or thrive on collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, this role gives you a chance to see your work move from screen to skyline.

About Montreux Electromechanical Works L.C

We’re an established, tight-knit crew that’s been engineering the unseen magic behind top Dubai projects for years. At our core, we believe great design happens through collaboration — that spark when ideas trade hands between drafter and engineer. Don’t be surprised if you’re brainstorming over lunch, or catching up on site walks after hours; here, open communication and practical creativity are the norm. We pride ourselves on quick turnarounds, technical precision, and the sense of pride that comes from standing back and thinking, “Hey, we did that.”

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing detailed, high-precision MEP drawings (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) in AutoCAD and related software
  • Coordinating closely with design engineers and site supervisors to ensure seamless project execution
  • Adjusting plans and layouts based on design changes, site conditions, or client feedback — adaptability is key here
  • Reviewing technical drawings for compliance with project specs, standards, and local authority requirements
  • Assisting with quantity take-offs, BOQ preparations, and documentation for project tenders and submittals
  • Supporting the engineering team by providing clear, organized drawings for installation and procurement purposes
  • Visiting project sites for surveys, measurements, and on-the-job clarifications (yes, sometimes you need to see things in person)

What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves:

  • Proven experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drafting (MEP) — at least 2 years in a similar role preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit or other BIM software a solid plus
  • Strong attention to detail, plus the organizational skills to manage files and version control
  • Ability to interpret technical data, specifications, and engineering sketches
  • Clear, concise communication skills in English (spoken and written)
  • A collaborative mindset; you enjoy working closely with both office and site teams

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Familiarity with Dubai or UAE MEP standards/regulations
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary projects (think fit outs, high-rise, or commercial builds)

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Competitive salary and performance-based annual bonus
  • Supportive team culture — everyone’s voice is heard, and everyone’s work matters
  • Opportunities for skill development in the latest MEP software and BIM technologies
  • Modern workspace in the heart of Dubai, plus site visits that mix things up
  • Regular team gatherings (project wins are cause for celebration, big and small)
  • Respect for work-life balance: we know draftsmen need clear headspace to do their best work
  • Flexible schedule and hybrid work on select days, depending on project needs

At Montreux Electromechanical, you’re not just filling a seat — you’re helping us build Dubai’s future, one drawing at a time. If you’re looking for a friendly, honest team that genuinely values precision, collaboration, and mutual respect, you’ll feel right at home here.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Can you walk us through your experience creating detailed MEP drawings in AutoCAD? Are there any recent projects where your input made a significant impact on the final outcome?
  • How do you ensure your drawings comply with both project specifications and local authority standards, especially when working on projects in Dubai?
  • Tell us about a time you were asked to revise drawings due to unexpected site conditions or client feedback. How did you approach the changes and manage your workload?
  • What strategies do you use to keep your files, revisions, and drawing versions organized, especially when working on multiple projects simultaneously?
  • Have you had any hands-on experience with Revit or other BIM software? How did you leverage these tools to support the design or coordination process?
  • How comfortable are you conducting on-site surveys or taking precise measurements to inform your drawings? Can you share an example where an on-site visit changed your design approach?
  • Describe a situation where close coordination with engineers or site supervisors helped avoid a potential installation issue or improved project efficiency.
  • Give an example of how you’ve contributed to preparing BOQs, quantity take-offs, or other technical documentation for tenders or submittals.
  • Tell us about a challenging multidisciplinary project you worked on (such as a fit out or high-rise). What role did you play, and what did you learn from the experience?
  • In fast-paced team settings with tight deadlines, how do you stay detail-oriented while keeping projects moving forward?
  • Collaboration and open communication are big parts of our company culture. Can you share how you typically keep everyone in the loop when working on coordinated drawings or addressing issues?
  • What steps do you take to give and receive feedback in a way that’s constructive, especially when collaborating with colleagues from different disciplines or backgrounds?
  • What do you value most in a team environment, and how do you help create an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect on your projects?

Market-Based Salary Overview and Analysis

For an MEP Draftsman role in Dubai with 2+ years of experience, you should expect a salary of at least 5,000–7,000 AED per month, with some positions at larger or more prestigious firms offering up to 8,000 AED. Similar roles in established electromechanical or contracting companies often include additional benefits such as annual bonuses and chances for skill development, so it’s reasonable to negotiate for a package that also recognizes your software proficiency and local experience.
