About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements

Ever wondered how you could leave a lasting impact on major construction projects — not just by building, but by protecting lives every single day? As a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Consultant with Al-Mowsoa Contracting Company, you’ll do exactly that. This role isn’t just about checking boxes; it’s about creating a culture where every worker, visitor, and subcontractor goes home safe. We're looking for someone who doesn’t just identify risks, but inspires teams to embrace safety as a value — and makes that mindset infectious on every site.

About Al-Mowsoa Contracting Company

At Al-Mowsoa, we're not just leaders in construction — we’re architects of trust in every project we take on. Our worksites are as diverse as our people, stretching across cutting-edge commercial builds, essential infrastructure, and complex multi-phase developments. Team collaboration is woven into our DNA; our weekly toolbox talks spark lively conversations (and, occasionally, debates over the best local coffee). Above all, we believe that unstoppable progress only happens when safety and quality come first. If you’re passionate about raising the bar, you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading on-site health, safety, and environmental inspections — with an eagle eye for both the obvious and the overlooked.
  • Assessing and updating company HSE policies to match evolving regulations and best practices.
  • Coaching project teams and subcontractors through risk assessments, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
  • Designing and delivering engaging training sessions — everybody remembers the one with the mock “accident” drill, thanks to you.
  • Compiling clear, actionable reports and recommendations after audits or site visits; presenting findings to both ground crews and management.
  • Acting as the go-to advisor during tendering or pre-construction to ensure risks are addressed from day one.
  • Supporting emergency response plans and drills, ensuring everyone knows what to do (and feels confident doing it).
  • Staying plugged in to new safety technologies and sharing practical innovations across teams.

What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves:

  • Proven experience in HSE roles within the construction or contracting sector (you’ve seen a few hard hats in your day).
  • Solid knowledge of local and international HSE regulations, practices, and industry standards.
  • HSE-related certifications or qualifications.
  • Strong communication skills — you know when to be gently persuasive and when to lay the facts on the table.
  • Analytical mindset; you notice patterns, spot root causes, and always propose solutions.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience facilitating safety workshops or delivering HSE training to diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or similar frameworks.
  • Tech savvy — not just for reporting, but for creative safety communication.

Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with your expertise.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness coverage — because your safety matters too.
  • Opportunities for ongoing training, certifications, and professional growth.
  • Engaged leadership team that actually wants your ideas (yes, even the out-of-the-box ones).
  • Dynamic, supportive colleagues who greet challenges with teamwork and a bit of humor.
  • Flexible site rotation and some hybrid workdays, depending on project needs.
  • Transparent career progression mapped out clearly, not just promised vaguely.

Every day at Al-Mowsoa, you’ll help build not just safer worksites, but a stronger, more resilient team. If you’re ready for a role where your impact is tangible and every day ends knowing you made a difference, Al-Mowsoa could be your next professional home.

Common Interview Questions and Tips

To help you prepare and feel confident, here are some questions you might encounter during the interview process for this role.

  • Can you walk us through a time when you uncovered a hidden or less obvious safety hazard during a construction site inspection? How did you address it with the team?
  • How do you stay current with evolving local and international HSE regulations, and how have you previously updated company policies to keep pace with these changes?
  • Describe your experience implementing or aligning HSE processes with standards like ISO 45001 or ISO 14001. What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?
  • When supporting emergency response planning and drills, how do you ensure all team members feel confident and capable in their roles during real incidents?
  • Tell us about a creative training approach you’ve used to make safety concepts engaging and memorable for diverse teams, especially those who might be resistant at first.
  • What’s your process for conducting incident investigations to identify root causes rather than just symptoms? Can you give us a concrete example?
  • How do you approach coaching subcontractors or new team members who may be unfamiliar with or skeptical of your HSE standards?
  • Collaboration is key at Al-Mowsoa. Can you describe a situation where lively debate or pushback during a toolbox talk led to a better safety outcome?
  • Give an example of how you’ve used digital tools or technology to enhance safety reporting, communication, or training on a job site.
  • When presenting your audit or inspection findings, how do you adapt your messaging for frontline crews versus senior management?
  • Think of a time when you had to persuade a team to adopt a new safety practice that was initially unpopular. What steps did you take and what was the outcome?
  • How do you maintain both transparency and trust when reporting on safety issues that may impact tight project timelines?
  • In our fast-paced, collaborative environment, how do you balance enforcing safety rigor with supporting productivity and keeping morale high?

Be prepared to negotiate within this range if you bring specialized expertise or a strong track record in large-scale developments.
