About the Role: Responsibilities, Skills, and Requirements
Ever found yourself intrigued by what happens behind the scenes every time you pick up a phone and everything just… works? As a Telecommunications Systems Engineer here in Sharjah’s vibrant University City, you’ll play a pivotal role in the design, installation, and support of advanced telephone solutions. This isn’t just about plugging in wires — it’s about building the backbone that keeps modern organizations connected. If you have hands-on experience with today’s telephony standards and want to see the real-world impact of your work, this could be the opportunity that keeps you energized day after day.
About the Company
Nestled among the academic buzz of University City, our company brings together a diverse crew of engineers, project managers, and tech enthusiasts who thrive on solving real communication challenges. Our team is passionate about the idea that the right “connection” can spark incredible things — whether it’s between colleagues, campuses, or continents. Mondays start with brainstorming over strong coffee, and Fridays wrap up with our signature “tech trivia” sessions. There’s a shared confidence here that no two days (or installations) are ever quite the same.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Taking ownership of full-cycle installation, configuration, and commissioning of PBX and IP PBX systems across client sites.
- Reviewing project requirements, assessing technical environments, and crafting the optimal telecom solution — every client challenge brings something new.
- Implementing, testing, and maintaining SIP trunk systems, then ensuring seamless connectivity with both local and international service providers.
- Troubleshooting integration hiccups and performing hands-on diagnostics, both remotely and on-site, to keep systems healthy and reliable.
- Collaborating closely with project managers, field engineers, and client IT staff to ensure every deployment succeeds — communication is key here!
- Preparing clear, practical documentation to support ongoing operations and future upgrades (think manuals, system diagrams, and quick-start guides).
- Staying ahead of the curve by keeping an eye out for emerging telecom tech, best practices, or opportunities to streamline our processes.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with modern PBX and IP PBX systems (installation, configuration, commissioning — not just support).
- Sound knowledge of SIP trunking, VoIP protocols, and connecting systems to service providers.
- Eagerness to learn, troubleshoot, and find solutions in “real world” situations — theory is great, but practice matters more here.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; you’ll sometimes be onsite solo, and sometimes collaborating closely.
- Comfortable preparing technical documentation that other engineers can actually use.
- Strong English (and ideally, conversational Arabic) skills for client-facing situations.
Nice-to-Haves
- Certifications related to telecoms (Cisco, Avaya, Alcatel, or similar) — show us what you’ve got!
- Experience supporting large-scale multi-site or campus environments.
- A genuine interest in keeping up with new trends in telephony and communications.
Not sure you tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Competitive salary package, with regular reviews as your expertise grows.
- Flexible start/end times and a partial-remote policy for those “heads-down” focus days.
- Training allowance to support whichever certifications or tech conferences catch your eye.
- A collaborative engineering culture where your ideas matter — and yes, you’ll often see them become reality.
- Strong team spirit: social events, knowledge-sharing sessions, and the occasional offsite to recharge.
If you’re seeking a role where you’ll see your work make a real difference for end-users, all within a supportive and energetic team, you’ll feel right at home here. In our company, your voice (and expertise) truly matters.
